Default Firm Q-tips

The brand Q-tips are very loose. Do you know of one that is tighter and thus more pointed?

Sorry I don't - are you using them for blending? - I would probably opt for blending stumps in that case. HTH

I use Eye-Tees - they are carried by our grocery store in the make up aisle - they are eye make up applicators but are perfect for chalks :-)

They have a pointed end and a flatter paddle end - I use the pointed end for small work and the paddle end for large areas - they are fab :-)

I know what you mean. Many years ago I was lucky enough to find them at Target, but when I went back for more they were no longer selling them. They are special manicure q-tips. The one end is like a regular q-tip and the other end is wound tight and pointed. They were great for the chalks. Since I could not find them, I went to my local stamp store and found these really small brush "things". I am not sure what they are used for. There were maybe 20 or so double tipped brushes in the pack for a couple of dollars. I bought enough to have 48; one for each color in the SU chalk pack. I am not sure who makes them. Hopefully you can find something similar.

Ulta carries those make-up thingies....they are pretty inexpensive. Never thought to try them for chalks....I'll have to get them out of my bathroom!

Target carries the rounded ones. Thanks for the link to the Eye-Tees willsygirl! I'll have to try those.

Beleive it or not, I use the ones from the dollar stores. There is less cotton on them and they are much tighter and the tip is smaller. I also have a box of the medical ones that are pointed on the end. Don't really use them but maybe I should. If you are ever near a dollar tree or other store, try them. If you don't like them, only lost $1!

I found those pointy Q-tips at Rite-aid drug stores in the makeup isle.

This is too funny...this thread reminded me that I needed to pick up some more - so I just popped to the grocery store and next to the eye-tees found Nail-Tees - I hadnt seen these before - but they are perfect for me since I use the pointed end more than the flatter end and these have the pointed end at both ends :-)

I've got some of the cosmetic applicators - they look like the picture of the ones posted above, but the brand is Swisspers, and I got them at Walmart. There are 80 in the container - it is clear with an aqua colored label.

HTH,
Connie

I never knew about the Eye-Tees. Looks like a good idea.

Just in case anyone wants to try this...
What I have been using for many years is a tiny bit of a regular cotton ball and an Alligator Clip.
I got a bunch of the Alligator Clips at an auto supply store. To make a handle, I glued the clip to a skinny dowel. Then I just grab a tiny piece of cotton and place it in the clip and go to work.

If these are what I'm thinking, I got some at my stamp store as well. I think I paid $3 or $4 for 10 of them.

Then my mother went in for dental work and the dental assistant was throwing them out! They came in some kit that the dentist used, but he didn't use the brushes. She asked for the ones from "her" kit; when she left, they gave her 3 little boxes of 50 each that they would have just thrown out. Too bad they didn't know what a gold mine they were sitting on!

Walgreens has the cosmetic applicators as well - they should be by the makeup sponges & stuff.

I bought some of these to blend my Prismas with OMS and it works beautifully! I was trying to use the "made in China" stumps from Mike's and they were just frustrating!

I bought a pack of 100 of these little pointy q-tips at the local CVS (Drugstore) for 1.99. I just love them! One side is pointy and the other side is flat and kind of paddle shaped. They last a long time and can be used over and over. I like them lots, huge improvement over the cheapo stumps I was using anyway!

Have fun!

I buy the cheap cotton swabs at Walgreen's. They are very tightly wound, and come in a bag of 1000 for $1. Now that's cheap!!!

I find that the cheaper q-tips work the best for me. I find them at the Dollar Tree and have also found some at McFugles.

Thank you all for the tips. I'll be out there looking. I had some several years ago and really liked them. The Amazon site says unavailable at this time. I'll be checking out the other stores mentioned.
