Here it is on Amazon:

Amazon.com: Provo Cuttlebug Adapter Mat C 6x8": Home & Kitchen

The C plate is the same for the newer version Cuttlebug. But there is a longer C plate available. Maybe that's the one you are seeing in the stores. The width is the same on both plates, so will fit in the original Bug.

B plate "cook"

I found a great tip on Facebook today! It was a way to flatten old B plates that were bent and bowed. As it happens I had 4 such B plates that for some reason I hadn't thrown away and today my husband "cooked" them for me and now they are useable again. Don't really know how to paste the link but if you Google "Cuttlebug B plate "cook" it will come up.

That's a great tip. I found a nice link to that info. Warped/scared Cuttlebug B plates, I think I have a fix! - Craft forum!

Jan R 05-07-2014 04:52 PM

I checked out that link and it took me to the one I was talking about. Imgur. I was doing some cleaning out in my craft room this morning and would you believe that I found another 4 old warped B plates! Why I had never thrown them out I will never know, I must have had a premonition about this "fix" coming along! LOL.

Can anyone give me the right sandwich for Tim Holtz Alterations "Spring Greenery" for the Bug? It's a long foliage die.

Thanks for that.

So I need to get a C plate but found two different ones..a wide one and a long one. Why are there two and which one do I need?

All the plates are available in the 13 inch length. They are for the long dies and strip embossing folders. If your A & B plates are 6" x 7.75" that's the size C plate to use.

I never did. Every time I wanted to, it was sold out. I've been using Post-It tape.

Mzteaze 11-06-2014 09:28 AM

They seem to have it in stock now so I might take a chance and splurge.

Mzteaze 11-12-2014 09:25 AM

If you want to die cut, do you NEED the C plate?. Or can I get away with shims and using both B plates like they showin the manual??

I think you should bite the bullet and get the C plate. I haven't heard of folks using shims instead. It might work, but it would sure be a hassle to get the right thickness every time, and I think you would have inconsistent results, with parts not cutting through cleanly.:)

I also suggest you buy the C plate.
The C plate is more rigid than shims of chip board or card stock so the pressure on the dies will be more consistent. This will result in cleaner cuts from your dies

Also the C plate lasts almost forever since I never cut into it . My C plate came with my CB and is 7 years old

Jan R 11-12-2014 01:47 PM

I think you need a C plate as well, I don't know why they don't come with a C plate these days. I often just use the 2 B's with a thick shim and tan mat and it cuts and embosses at the same time, but a lot of my dies cut better with the C plate. Except my Cheery Lyn doyley die which does not cut well with anything, not shims, not ejection foam, not release paper, not baking paper, not ANYTHING! I am ready to chuck it in the bin! LOL.

The C plate isn't used with any Cuttlebug products so they quit including it.

I use the Cheery Lynn metal adapter plate with all my thin dies: Cuttlebug?/Big Shot? Metal Adaptor Plate - S114 - Cheery Lynn Designs I have both sizes and love them.

caterinafmig 11-12-2014 02:03 PM

I use the C plate. It came with my cuttlebug when I bought it several years ago.

Jan R 11-12-2014 02:05 PM

I have a metal plate, I does not help this die! I have just contacted Cheery Lyn to ask whether they ever had defective dies. I have other Cheery Lyn dies which are great.

Phillis 11-12-2014 02:12 PM

I have a Cuttlebug and mine came with a "C" plate. I know, "way back when". I would definitely suggest you buy one because the guessing game can be a source of aggravation. For the lady that has trouble with the Cherry Lynn dies have you tried the metal shim??

I've never used my C plate. I use the chipboard backing from four perforated 5" x 8" notepads plus the two B plates. For embossing, I remove two of the chipboards and add the tan Spellbinders embossing mat along with the two B plates. No problem cutting or embossing on most dies.

Good to know, if my C plate bites the dust!:)

Love2Craft 11-13-2014 10:12 AM

Do you think they will ever come out with a magnetic plate that will fit the cuttlebug? Also, I have seen some cuttlebug's on youtube that were pink and even gold. I know the gold is Anna Griffin style but wondering where did they get them. I am just wondering and hoping they will still continue to make the cuttlebug only because it seems like you don't see them in the stores along with dies and embossing folders as much. I have had mine for 7 years now and love it.

Thanks for this. I have an idea that the "alternative" ways to shim is the real reason Provo Craft stopped automatically adding the C plate to the kit. Well that and the sales savings. Especially since the C plate seems to be needed for dies from other brands.

I guess I will get one eventually. So far I will probably use the rubber plumbers gasket as a shim along with chipboard shims until it doesn't work for me. It's not like I have a ton of dies either.

Mzteaze 11-13-2014 10:20 AM

Do you have any links or examples of the different colored Cuttlebugs, @Love2Craft?

Jan R 11-13-2014 01:07 PM

After I had finished complaining about my Cheery Lyn doiley die on here the other day I decided to write to Cheery Lyn and was very surprised and pleased to get an answer within a couple of hours asking for my details so they could post me a new one! I don't even have to return the "dud" one. Now why didn't I do that when I first had trouble with it. LOL.

Card Maker 01 11-14-2014 08:04 AM

As an aside, my local Michaels has Cuttlebug plates (A, B and extended) but NO Sixxiz plates.

I had seen it on youtube. I am at work so I can't check for sure, but I definitely know the gold was Anna Griffin page and the other I believe was robynstamps page on you tube.

laughingstamper 11-14-2014 11:30 AM

The gold and pink CB machines were sold through shopping networks such as QVC/HSN. They are also available online. Just google it. I believe there are several versions of the pink out there.

I have the original CB and have had it for 6 or 7 years. I use it on a daily basis and am on my second set of B plates. Still using the original C plate. Buy the C plate and save yourself some time, if you use thin wafer dies.

I tried using the plumbing gasket at first and it just didn't work. It was too thick. check the thickness of the proper rubber mat before you hit the stores for a gasket and make sure they are the same thickness. The one I bought was thin on the edge and thicker in the middle. I almost broke the machine trying to use it.

You need to flip your B plates over and rotate them as you use them to prevent them from warping so much. I did a 411 video about the CB years ago. It has lots of good info but not the best quality video and not edited.

Limited release Cuttlebugs: https://www.google.com/search?q=limi...w&ved=0CFYQsAQ

I have the V1 blue, although it's really aqua.

So I started playing with my most intricate die, an old Spellbinder die with no poke thru holes. Yikes!. Still no C plate but was able to get it going. Thank you who ever came up with using wax paper!

I will need to cardboard shim the die but to make it work.

A single unscented dryer sheet works even better than waxed paper.

I haven't tried this yet but Karen Burniston has a way to use layers of dryer sheets to remove the bits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCKaBy116v0

That is awesome!!

Now I have to go buy dryer sheets because I don't use them.

Jan R 11-15-2014 02:40 AM

Yes, I watched the Utube video of Karen Burniston using dryer sheets and I went and got some today (as I don't have a dryer) The video was with using a Bigshot but I am sure we can adapt it to the Bug as well. I will try it tomorrow. Also check out Karen's pivot and pop up cards, they are fantastic!

Jan R 12-02-2014 01:47 AM

I couldn't manage to do anything worthwhile with the dryer sheets. If they can be used with the bigshot they should be able to be used with our bugs. The Utube video is by Karen Burniston and is called "Ejecting intricate wafer thin dies with dryer sheets". Maybe if a few more watch and try it we can figure something out for the Cuttlebug?

I ran the sheets through my 'Bug with no problems. You may have to play with the layers but I folded 4 sheets in half then used the following sandwich:

A plate
embossing mat
B plate
die
cardstock (already cut with die)
4 dryer sheets folded in half to make "8 layers" & laying facing the cardstock
B plate

When I flipped the dryer sheet over, all I had to do was peel off the cardstock and yes the "confetti" stuck to the dryer sheet.
