Default ??? Black Waterproof Ink ???

Does anyone have a great waterproof ink they can recommend, that inks up evenly? I have the Staz-on, Archival (Tim Holtz) and the Versafine, but when I stamp them out, they have uneven coverage. Like one side of my image is fine but it's uneven in another area. I am really "kissing" and "pouncing" my image well, so maybe it's my ink??? Is it me??? Any ideas either way?

I don't know about the archival ink, but with staz on and versafine, I find that I only need to touch the pad to the stamp with a couple of light pounces to get good coverage. Too much inking causes blobbling of the ink in some parts of the stamp so it doesn't stamp well. I hold the stamp upside down and tap the ink pad onto the rubber and check the rubber for coverage. I think stazon and versafine are the best ink pads for inking intricate and complicated designs.

I ALWAYS put the ink to the stamp and not the stamp to the ink. I can see my coverage better. I also like to use catseyes, easier to handle, and easier to see. BTW, have you seen the "all black" stack of catseyes? Only one is black black. The others are tinted, and I'm really enjoying playing with them. And Momento/Memento (can never remember) is my so far favorite black ink.

Another vote for taking the ink to the stamp vs. taking the stamp to the ink. And for Versafine. I love the dark black and the coverage I get. You might try a light sanding on your stamp if it is a solid stamp. But like ScrampShopper said, too much ink will make it pool on your stamp and you'll get uneven coverage. Let us know when you get it to work.

Memento saved me from tossing a stamp after using every other black inkpad I owned without getting a clear image I got one with Memento Tuxedo black. I am slowly adding more colors to my collection.

As the Memento inks are all dye inks, I doubt they are actually waterproof. I have found that Versafine gives very good coverage and details.

you should be getting even coverage with the inks you have on most stamps. that said, Memories dye ink is waterproof and wonderful...

You have 3 of the best black inks out there... Are you sure your ink pad doesn't need reinked? or if you are applying even pressure when you ink up your stamp?
