Default Tell me about Fabriano cards...

I see so many references and have viewed gallery samples of these, yet I do not know exactly what everyone loves about them. I would guess it's the paper quality, but I can't determine that from pictures.

Please enable me.

Fabriano is a manufacturer of several different types of paper. The cards you see here on SCS from Fabriano tend to use this:

The cards I've purchased are a soft off white and incredibly soft to the touch watercolor paper -- almost a velvety texture. They are excellent for watercoloring and you wouldn't want to -- in my opinion -- layer much over them. I believe that they also come in a true white. They make a very elegant card and have a soft deckle edge.

I just got my order in (got the 4.75 square cards) and they are wonderful. Yes, you would not want to layer over these cards. I love to watercolor and am planning on my main image with a bit of ribbon. They are really soft, elegant and classy looking. (hopefully they will stay that way after I start to work on them!!!!!!!!!!!).

Check out DickBlick.com for cards/envies. Good prices because you do get 50 per box. Cindy from Starlit Studios found him for me, since I was just in need of the envies. She sells them in sets, both cards AND envies. I think if you can get a good price, they are worth it. They watercolor beautifully and look so elegant. Perfect for that really quick card that does not need a lot of embellishing. Just your image and a little ribbon. Thanks to JulieHRR who got me onto these fabulous cards! What an enabler!! (I LOVE enablers).

You have to keep in mind they are made in, and imported to the USA, from Italy. They are considered the cadillac of Italian made papers, and highly reputed by artisans and stationers alike, for their outstanding quality.

I *love* it for the richness of its texture and the elegance it lends to every project I happen to use it for. It has a stand-alone presence, unlike any other paper I've ever used and it's my first choice whenever I want to make a chic card without any layering.

It just oozes class. I don't know any other way to describe it!

I am in love w/ them! And I haven't even used mine yet, HA! I just bought some last night at a Blick store, and I keep opening the box and touching them! That sounds kinda creepy, but trust me, if you get some, you'll be touching them too!

This paper is absolutely gorgeous for watercoloring and make an exceptional single layer card. I painted a set of garden cards for my sister for Christmas and they were gorgeous. The paper cost quite a bit but is so well worth the price when wanting to make something unique and very special.
