Cutter Questions

Previously I had Cricut and used Inkscape and Scal for designing (my favorite part) and cutting, now I have the Silhouette Cameo, but would still use Inkscape and SCAL 3 for designing and cutting, but I'm not sure if the Silhouette software replaces these, or just simply does the same thing if I'm already familiar. Is it worth it to invest in the upgraded Silhouette software, or continue to work the same way I'm used to? As I understand it, the basic Silhouette software does not recognize SVGs... does the upgrade version do any better?

I'm very confused, but don't want to pay any money if I already have the "best way of working".

Does anyone know the answer to this? I'll be happy to elaborate if you need me to.

SCAL 3 works with the Cameo.

The best place to ask would be over at the SCAL forum. That said, SCAL 3 supports the Cameo. So you should be able to keep working the way you always have.

I have SCAL 2 and use Inkscape quite often with the Cricut. I've also played around with the Silhouette's software to get a feel for it. Inkscape remains far more powerful than SCAL or Silhouette Studio for drawing.

I wouldn't be afraid to try out Silhouette Studio, you may like the way it does some things. And may prove useful for print and cut. But otherwise, I don't think you'll find much reason to move away from SCAL.

great, I was thinking the same thing... why step away from what I'm already used to, I see that SCAL does support the reg marks and all so it's prepared for those who are moving on to offer competitive features so i'll leave well enough alone... thank you so much for answering so quickly, you're awesome!!!
