I have been researching it-- Creative Expressions and some other internet places sell the Expressions for the same price as the original Circut. I played with the original one this morning and since I do mostly scrapbooking, I will get the bigger one so the original can be bought with 23 cartrigdes for 189-300 and the Expressions can be found with 2 cartridges for 320-400 and that inlcudes shipping/tax ect
hope my little research on this helps sum up what I found on all the other threads about the Cricut here
bottom line it is an awesome little machine and I cant hardly wait to own it!!

I LOVE my Cricut!!!! Gale is right, don't buy it from the infomercial!!!! You can get such a better deal so many other places. I use my Stampin' Up! cardstock, Bazzill, patterned paper, vinyl, chipboard, etc with my Cricut. You will love it!!
I Just bought my first machine - the expression....and so glad that I waited for this one...although the smaller one could have been fine, I wanted the ability to use 12X12 paper.
So far, so good. I am SO GLAD that I bought 4 12X12 mats so I can go back and forth between colors.
I am in Canada...at Michaels its $499 with 2 cartridges but hard to find in stock. I found at another scrapbook store for $50 more, so grabbed it. I think in the long run, it will be a great investment!
I have both machines and I LOVE them. I do scrapbooking and stamping, my kids all use it for school projects. As for the best price, I got the first one at Michael's and found it later (a lot cheaper) at Walmart. My larger one my DH got it for me for Valentines day from Walmart. I have a few cartridges and my 2 girl friends and I don't buy the same cartridges and we swap them. Between the 3 of us we have about 40 of the cartridges. Hope this helps and Happy Crafting.

I love, love, LOVE my Cricut! I think I've used about every type of paper I have with it and haven't had a problem. You do have to buy individual software and cartridges, but I've got some off E-bay for a great price. The only problem I've had so far is that my cutting mat lost it's stickiness kind of fast.

Try wiping your mat down with a baby wipe, sometimes that will get rid of some of the paper fuzz and revive your mat for a few more uses. I have noticed that the small mats (6 x 12) have a better sticky that the bigger ones. There has been some complaints on the Cricut website about the bigger mats not holding there stick, but I have had no problems personally.

I have both...love them! I use the expression more now but save my smaller one for crops and classes. I use it mainly for scrapbooking but somedays I will just sit and play and cut out smaller things to use on cards. I wait for the cartidges to go on sale for like $49 before I buy. I also share with a friend of mine so together we have almost all the ones out there!
Hi!
The best piece of advice I can give you about your Cricut purchase is to hide your $$$$$ if you are a collection collector, LOL!!!
DH bought me the original Cricut around Thanksgiving when Wal Mart had them on sale for a really good price. I'm a crafter and cardmaker, so the smaller size Cricut is perfect for my use. It came with the George and Keystone cartridge. Great, I could pick up just a few more cartridges and be good to go, wrong.
First there were the Princess cartridges and the Mickey Mouse cartridges, which I had to have since DD and I are huge Disney fans. And now the Pooh cartridges are "needed" to complete the collection of Disney stuff. I was able to take advantage of the holiday deals and got 2 free cartridges, great, I'm set.
Well then there were all these samples from some really talented people, and the Design Studio Software and next thing you know this cartridge does this, this cartridge does that, and you don't have those cartridges. Then DH asked if I could cut a deer card for his BIL and I don't have any animal cartridges, then Oh My Crafts has a sale and he goes shopping. Before you know it, you don't have a few cartridges, you have a collection, a library or whatever you call it you stash. ROFL!!!!
But the most important thing to remember is that using the Cricut is sooooo much fun.
