Hybrid ink looks more like dye ink, but it pretty much works on any surface. You can't emboss with it though, unless you use Versamark first. One thing about PTI's hybrid ink--(theirs is called Perfect Match), which comes in colors that coordinate with their cardstock/ribbons/buttons, the Palette inks are the same type of inks, just not PTI's exclusively.
Anyway, some of the Perfect Match colors are VERY light. Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, Sweet Blush to name a few. I wouldn't recommend buying them until PTI has corrected the issues they've been having with them. I think they're working with the manufacturer to get it fixed, but this has been going on for a long time.
Most of the other colors are wonderful though. I love hybrid inks and use them the most often.
They do have the inks in spot form, which only costs $2.00. This is the way I buy their ink, for storage reasons. It is a relatively inexpensive way to try out their ink to see if you like it. I have them all and I have been very happy with them. It can't hurt to try them out.

Or... they are waaaay too dark. I have Aqua Mist, but it is waaay too dark. I also have Spring Moss, and that also is soooo dark that it is more like Ripe Avocado!! Sweet Blush - I have to re-ink it nearly everytime I use it because it is waaay too light. Frustrating!!
But I agree that their darker ink colours are great.
Thanks so much for your help!! I think it might be a good idea to try a couple of the ink spots first and see how I like them. I hadn't heard that about the lighter inks, though, so I will definitely think about those....probably try some darker ones first.
I'm so glad I thought to ask here first thanks for being so helpful!
I actually made the switch over to using ALL Palette inks. I love that I can use it for paper, fabric, wood, etc. It will work on almost ANY surface so you never have to worry about choosing the right ink. I also like that it dries quickly so I don't worry about smudging my cards.
