cricut vs CuttleBug vs Sizzix - What to choose

All you pro's can you help me out.

I'm considering purchasing a die cut machine to assist with my card making and scrapbooking. I'm just getting started and won't make this purchase for a while but wanted to get an idea of what I'm saving up for.

Michael's Crafts carries three different products for die cut and I'm not sure what the benefit or draw back are of each of them.

cricut vs CuttleBug vs Sizzix - any suggestions?

Thanks,
Georgia

Hmmm.... I think it's going to be hard to compare and electronic die cut machine (Cricut) and a manually operated one (Cuttlebug, Sizzix, etc). I have the small Cricut and the Big Shot and I love them both to death.

What I love about Cricut is that the variety of sizes and combinations you can cut with one cartridge. It is also great for "mass production" of projects. For example, you need to make 50 invitations (all the same design). All the pieces you need can be cut in just a touch of the button, and while it's cutting, you can do other things.

As for the manually operated die cut machines, you can do other things with them aside from cutting, such as dry embossing. And most of them can accept dies from other companies. However, you are limited to the size of what the die offers, especially when it comes to the alphabets. If I am to choose between the Cuttlebug and the Original Sizzix machine, I'd prefer the Cuttlebug.

Those are my few cents... I hope that it helps :) Good luck!

I have a Big Shot Die cut machine, its kind of like the sizzix. It works with ALL die cute and emboss templates out there. I dont own a cricut yet, maybe one day. The thing that drives me a bit crazy with the die machine it you have to crank the handle for everything. The cricut , you just punch in what you want and it cuts it right there for you. I do like my Big Shot though just wish it cut without having to crank the handle over and over..lol.

I have a cuttlebug that I bought/use strictly for the embossing folders. I also have a CraftRobo and absolutely love love LOVE LOVE IT!!! I researched the digital die cutting machines and chose the CraftRobo over the cricut machines because of the versatility. I really like that I don't have to keep buying cartridges to use my cutter and I can cut any shape I want. The only advantage I can see with the cricut is that it is portable.

That's my opinion for what its worth...

It is hard for anyone to tell someone else what to buy.

I have the Cuttlebug and the Silhouette and love both of them. If I had to choose it would be the Cuttlebug- handier, smaller, more portable and does embossing. THe Silhouette on the other hand does not restrict the size of what I cut to the size of the die.

My friend has the cricut and loves it- but I would be unable- and unwilling!- to spend what she has invested in cartridges.

Keep reading here- there are dozens of threads comparing the different equipment and why each person likes or dislikes certain ones.

Once you do decide, HAVE FUN!!!
