Smile I-top brad creator

Anyone used one of these? Or got one! I've seen the online demos and love the idea but thought that the finished brads seemed bulky and didn't look very well finished?
Does the type/ thickness of paper make a difference and would anyone recommend one ?
Thanks xx

I've been using the I-top Brad Creator and have had the best success with thin paper.
Cardstock is too thick. Regular printer/xerox/scrapbook paper seems to work best.

I just got one this morning and have tried it with ONLY cardstock....... GP cardstock that i use for stamping........ Grabbed a piece and used the punch.....

IT LOOKS AWFUL......... like my 1st graders made it........ and they were a very very talented group......... you can see every crease and fold........ I am using the small size.

Tomorrow morning, I try thin paper and fabric....... If i dont see an improvement it goes back to Ms.

I watched 4 videos on it before i bought it this morning and I am not pleased at all....... the quality of the brads with cardstock is shoddy and childish

I tried the I top with thin scrapping paper this morning......... same clunky look....... I had it all packed and read to go back to Ms.........and i decided to give fabric a try.

It is a medium weight 100% cotton from Ikea.......... It did a very good job....

I can only see 2 small puckers....... I am still not sure I am going to keep it, but i do have tons of quilting scraps......... the brads and toppers were almost as expensive as buying premade ones and I am not sure its worth the time and the expense of the tool to keep something that doesnt make something I am 100% happy with.

Anyone else tried this........ please share your results

I used one at Archiver's, and the lady told us you have to use copier weight paper, cardstock it too heavy and I got to make one with wide ribbon (maybe 2") and was not impressed with the finish brad, you have to really "fiddle" with it to make sure it is all inside the little cup before you squeeze the tool and than you have to make sure and hold it just right so the brad part doesn't fall out too. I don't see why you couldn't use the old time button maker that sewers use to make fabric buttons with? Same idea.

Here is a video, I must say that the lady at Archiver's did not show us how to do it this way, the way in the video looks to be much easier:

I have one and like it. Haven't used it a lot but the smaller brads are working fine. I have used DP with it and had no problems but I must say I am not a perfectionest either.

I have one and enjoyed playing with it! Of course there are going to be creases on the side because you are taking a larger piece of paper and folding it over the side. The only way it can be flat on the sides is if you use a stretchy material. I used ribbon as well and I liked the outcome. I will be showing it on Scrap Time in a few weeks so you can see how to use it and the outcome and decide if you like the look.

I bought it yesterday at Michaels with my 40% off coupon and I like it. I've only tried it with patterned paper. Cardstock is too thick for it. I'm going to try fabric next. I think the thinner the material/paper the better the brad will look. Once you figure out how to use it, it's really easy. I didn't buy a punch but I might do that with my next coupon. It really only takes a minute to cut the paper out and it doesn't have to be perfect anyway.

Does anyone know what the circle template is for? I can't figure that one out and they don't show it in the videos.
