Default missing SU markers

ok...don't ask me how...but somehow...I'm missing 18 of my SU markers! (yeah...I get a lot of help in my craft room...plus I'm sure I've lost a few taking projects places).

so. Should I order SU markers to make my set complete? or should I order the missing colors in Copic?

thanks,
kathy

Default Copic

There are comparison charts here for the copic markers versus SU,

You will not regret it and in the US, the price is not much different for individual markers.

I think that it depends on how much you use your markers. I personally have all of the SU markers for the quick coloring and for really small areas and I also have all of the Copic's for the bigger coloring areas and doing shading. I am also one of those people that have to have every color so I really can't give you advice. I think it should also depend on your finances SU markers are less than the Copic's. Maybe you can backtrack and you might be able to find some of your SU markers. When I loose something in my crafting area I get my 4yr old DD to find the things I can't, it is amazing how quickly she see's something I missed.

I would have to disagree with Johanna7. A few copics will most likely not do you much good, and may lead you into a whole new realm, where you feel the need to get all of the matching markers.
NOW, that said, I love my copics, and would recommend them to anyone who realizes exactly what they are getting into... While each marker is only $1-$3 different (depending on where you buy it), if you are the kind of person who NEEDS every color, you may be looking at starting a habit that may cost you thousands of dollars by the time you have everything you want.
Besides, the two don't play well together (not the way you will want them to), so you may frustrate yourself by having some of each. I'd say finish getting your 18 again (or sell your other 30) and start fresh with copics, if that's what you want...
Good luck (and we'll see you on the dark side soon ;-) )

If the missing colors are colors you use, I would replace them with SU! I use ALL of my SU markers and my Copics. I like the SU markers for coloring on the stamps for stamping partial images, etc. And I only use Copics for coloring images themselves.

You *need* them all....LOL

I agree about not getting the Copics for just those few colors. They don't really work the same way and you may not be happy with them, in this situation. Unless you really want Copics for Copics' sake, if you KWIM. Plus the colors listed are the "best" choice but may not be exact. I have found quite a few different on that list.
I would use my inkpads with a blender pen if I only used them occasionally. If you use them a lot then it might be worth buying them. Or trading for them!

you ladies are wise. good suggestions. I hadn't thought of ink pad with blender pen. I do a lot of ink refill with aqua brush. I really want to get into copics....but it's a good point that that's a whole other medium...not a continuation of the SU markers. I just ordered a DEK tower to hold the markers, refills, stamp pads, etc....so I'm anxious to "fill up" all the compartments. Without that tower, I would not be compelled to replace my missing markers. I think this is also my last month as a SU demo....so I feel like...if I want it, this is the time to get it.

oh decisions decisions. It's a shame you can only spend money once!

thanks,
kathy

I'm just starting on my "collection" of Copics and I have to agree with the advice above. Until you are ready to make a serious commitment to Copics, don't start. You can't have just a one of a color. You need a series of colors if you want to do any shading.

Since this is your last month as a demo, I'd get the SU now, because I'm pretty sure we are going to see SU have a marker sale. I wonder why they don't have sales on them.... oh well back on topic, go for the markers.

If you haven't looked at the videos and read the tutorials on Copics, I'd do that first. It will be good and bad. Good that you understand how they are used and why you need so many, and bad, because you see what they can do and then you have to buy many, many, more.
