Default Copic markers vs Prisma

I really want a set of copic markers for my birthday. COuld anyone tell me were to buy them at a deal or the cheapest place. And are these better than the prisma? I was price shocked at my local store so I do not know which route to go. ANy feedback on them would be appreciated Thank you

The nice thing about the copics is that the nibs are replaceable and they are refillable. I have not tried the prismas, so I can't compare their performance. I do love my copics immensely and they have been a great investment so far. I have been getting them little by little through GinaK's copic marker club. I know there are lots of threads on here about other places (can't remember the name, but one place people are using coupons to get big discounts I think!).

LOVE my prismas! I've never used copics cause I can't afford them, but I hear they are preferred. HOWEVER, I have grown to adore my Prismacolor Markers. I have several cards in my gallery and on my blog made with these markers. Honestly, if you are concerned about the price, prismacolors are wonderful and comparable to copics in the way they work. I also know that when first using them, they take some practice. I stamped a bunch of fun to color images and practiced one evening until I got the hang of it.

I really like my Prismacolor markers. They do what I need them to do and they are less expensive than Copics. That said -- I have a few very light shades of Copics because I couldn't find a Prisma light enough.

Buy mine at HL with 40% off coupons, one at a time, baby, one at a time! And I maybe copies of the coupons, give each of the kids and the hubby a coupon, and get extras when I can afford it! I am up to 38 now!

I like both of them.

I can use the Prismacolors on inkjet printed images and on images stamped with VersaFine. I like using them with images that were colored with Prismacolor pencils. However, I must keep the window open while using them because their solvent scent is rather intense. Plus, they seem to dry out quickly and the caps fall off too easily.

I just received my first batch of Copics and really like them. I find it easier to blend with them, though I'm just at the beginning of that particular learning curve. I also really like the colorless blender much better. I found the Prismacolor one didn't do jack. Their odor also doesn't give me headaches.

I don't like that I really can't color inkjet printed images or use my beloved VersaFine with them.

You can't refill prisma colors, so for the price of three prismas you could buy one copic and it's matching ink, which will give you 10 refills.

so compare 3 prismas vs 11 copics. They are a lifetime investment, so if you find yourself using markers all the time, running the same color dry from using it up, or you are constantly destroying tips then i really suggest going for copics. Plus, they don't smell strongly like prismas.

Check out this blog about why a copic is the last marker you'll ever need.

http://michellewooderson.blogspot.co...opic-tips.html

She's showing a copic Sketch marker, but a Copic Ciao has the same tips and it's about the same price as a prisma.
