Changing brush nib -- need help...
I have removed the damaged nib. The replacement nib has a metal clip. Does this clip need to be removed? I did but I'm not able to get the new nib seated in place. What are the tips and tricks to doing this?
The brush nib with the metal clip is meant for the Copic Original, or square bodied marker. You need the Super Brush nib, which comes in a little purple package and is intended for Sketch or Ciao. Then it will fit.
Airbrush question to determine whether I'm doing this right or not.
After I airbrush a background, the surface of the card is a bit tacky/sticky. Is it me or is this "normal"? Are there any fixes since the tackiness/stickiness of the card attracts dirt, dust, shedding cat fur, grey hair, etc.?

I have been currently building my collection of markers. I almost have them all...I have yet to get the Spica or the multi liners. I was curious if anyone know if the MICRON markers work similar to the multi liners. Does anyone know if you can use them with your Copics and not have them bleed? I was hoping that I could use them until I can get the refillable multi liners.

Hi all, finally found the Copic sticky :-) took me a while to get here. I saw a lot of people looking for classes. Wanted to throw out there that I teach classes on-line at Get It Scrapped but I also have a full series of free tutorials on the home page there. Many of them come with free images to download and then step by step coloring instructions :-) I'm in Iowa so maybe some of us in the mid-west should get together for a Copic party.
I just found this flash sale for copic marker refills. Its at Dealpeg.com. It looks like you bid how much you want to pay for 5 refills and if you win the auction you pay that amount. Regardless, it's cheaper than buying them retail!

Me too! It's funny because any of my images that I color are not sticky, but anything I airbrush has a tackiness to it.
What kind of paper are you using? I use Copic X-Press It, Gina K's Pure Luxury White and Stampin' Up! Whisper White. All of them are fine with coloring an image, but all of them have that sticky business with airbrushing. Weird.

The MICRON pens bled when I used them with my Copics. So, I invested in the Copic multiliners and they work fine. No bleeding!

Thanks Shari for letting me know about the Microns "bleeding" I got an email notification that the Price was going to increase in August...so I went ahead and finished off getting all the remaining colors that I still needed and I got a 10 pack of the refillable Multiliners in various sizes so I think I am set.

The multiliner pens have 2 different size refills...they remind me more of a traditional ink pen refill...slide out the old and slide in the new and you can replace the nibs for the different sizes if needed. I found them on dick blick's website. HTH

Hi Ladies, Just ab bit of advice please. I am a Prismacolor pencil user, but have decided to get some Copics for my Christmas cards this year. So I would like to hear suggestions for Christmas colors. I have started by buying a couple of reds, R17 and R46. Do I need more reds? I want to get a couple of greens for holly etc and also some dark greyish colors for Santa's boots. I will gradually build up my colors but want the basic necessary reds and greens to start with. I have a Copic color chart but I thought experienced Copic users would be more helpful.
Ladies, be sure to get your Copic markers before August 1st. The prices are going to jump considerably. Best price I've found right now is at Carpe Diem Store - Art,Architecture,Hobby Supply at $3.95 for sketch and I believe it's free shipping over $50.00. Good time to stock up.

Great suggestions, Bonnie! The only think I would add to this would be R24 and YG93 to the red and green colors. You really need those lighter shades to help give you the depth that catches your eye when you see beautifully colored images.
I remember seeing a post on places to get your copics refilled at about $2 each. I thought it was at hobby lobby or some large chain store. I also saw an online add for a Copic refill club. I can't find any of these posts now! Can someone help me out? I know about MFT but that doesn't sound like what I remember. Thanks!!
I was at a Copic class Saturday afternoon and they were talking about possibly becoming a copic filling station. You might check your local stamp stores rather than the big craft stores.
There is just one TINY stamp shop in my area and they dont do it. I think it is the only surviving stamp store in this part of Alaska. All the others have all closed down :(
Does anyone have a chart that has all of the current SU colors matched with Copic Colors? The ones I am finding here on SCS are before the color revisions last summer and are missing some colors--like Wild Wasabi. Now, I know there are five new in-colors coming out July 1st, so I would also like to get them when someone has done the matches.

Hi Kath, what reds and greens suitable for Xmas do you have?
I have the red and greens suggested here of yg99 and yg95 and the reds r29 and r27 I do have a couple of other colours and a blender but hopefully I'm ordering the basic 12 this weekend from the US. It's taken me a bit to get started and now I have I kinda want more, you know the usual way of things LOL
Just wondering if there is a basic/beginner Copic tutorial that I can print off on SCS? We are heading off to warmer parts of Australia in our caravan next week and I want to take some Copics to try as well as my Prismacolour pencils.
We are heading up to Daly River to start with (about 200k south of Darwin) to try out the barramundi fishing and then back down to Mt Isa and across the inland areas of Northern Queensland. We have done all the coast areas a few times and have no real set plans other than to find a warmer place with a nice park and river with fish in it! LOL. We will probaly go down and catch up with some friends who will be in Mitchell late July, and I know that is no warmer there than here, but we will be on our way home by then anyway. Have to get back for our youngest's 40th birthday on 12th August.

I have quite a compilation of information!
If I see something on a blog that someone colored and they listed the markers used I print it and put it in my notebook. I have the pocket page protectors I just slip them in.
I also (sometimes) scan what I colored and write down the markers I used in case I want to so the same image the same way again. Now thats alot discipline for me!
And I have the handouts from The Scrapbook Page copic coloring classes I have taken. (Julie Case is wonderful!)
I am a Copic Newbie. Do the colors 'retire' after a while? I have been researching and reading several blogs, trying to get a good assortment of about 20-24 markers for blending families and have found colors mentioned that I cannot find at oozak.com.

Oozak stocks every color Copic makes, but he may be out of some. You will see the name and number on the list , but on the end column for how many he has it will say 0.
He gets shipments all the time. If you see a color you want and he is out of it just click the " notify me" button to the left of the color and you will get an email when it comes in .
If you see a color name some where and it is not on Oozak's list then either the person is calling it by another name or it is not Copic. There are other alcohol based markers
I have never heard of any colors retiring, but then I have only been buying them for about 15 months.
Can you think of a specific color you were looking for, but could not find on OozaK ? I will try to help figure it out.

Never mind... I just saw the list above the chart, and I think it's supposed to be R 83 and R 85... not RV. I was just going by the chart and not looking at her list above it. Problem solved!! LOL

Paula, it looks like you have gotten your main question answered. You also mentioned possible retiring of certain colors, and Copic does not retire colors or refills. You can rest easy on that one. ;)
Paula I don't know if this system will work for you but this is how I did it.
I went about this very methodically .
First I decided I would buy 3 colors in the ROY G BIV system plus the C colors
For the R (reds) I also wanted pink
I skipped I= Indigo and substituted brown
This list was actually 27 markers because I decided to only buy 2 markers in the orange colors . I am not fond of orange.
I like to color flowers and nature images so I chose the YG's for my greens
After I visited blogs to see which colors I liked then I looked at my cardstock supply to be sure my markers would match my cardstock. . Most of my cardstock is SU.
I split my original list into two orders to take advantage of Oozak's free shipping on orders over $50. You need to register to get the best prices at Oozak.
After I got the markers on my original list then I started to branch out into some other colors

I took a class last week and we used two of the new colors RV66 and RV63 combined with RV00. Its a beautiful combination. It doesnt bleed as much or is as intimidating as some of the reds.
I have just started to play with copic markers. The moment I saw RV66 I had to have it. Following "the rules" I also bought RV63. I was so disappointed when I tried to get the two colors to blend evenly together. The RV63 pushed the RV66 right through the paper, no matter how light a touch I used. There just seemed to be too much of a difference even though they're only 3 #s apart. Sadly, I gave up on them..... until I read your posting.
Hope has returned. Is there a particular technique you used in your class to get these two colors to blend evenly?

Don't get too discouraged. You're right, there is a problem with your numbers. Some of the numbers do not blend with the number above. If you can get ahold of a colour chart, you can see the problem which is easily fixed when you purchase the number below.
