In response to Muscrats comment on the price of the markers, I live in Canada and the cheapest place remotely near me to buy the Copic markers costs me $7.95 CDN. I was so happy when I was in the States last week and was able to purchase them for $5.95!!! COPICS ARE THE BEST EVER!!!!
I was wondering if someone would tell me their favorite green colour combinations.

Did you know that you can use coupons on the copic sets on joann.com? The shipping charge is high, but it still brings a set of 72 sketches down to $251 (including shipping).

Only 10 wow that would be hard to pick. depends on what type of images you are coloring. check out the starter lists on Color Me Copic and pick what would match the type of stamped images you have.
Select 3 different colors (3 each of each color for blending) plus the 0 colorless blender.
examples...say you color mostly flowers you could start off with something like this:
pink- R81 R83 R85
green- G21 G24 G28
yellow-Y32 Y35 Y38 plus 0 colorless blender
If you color people images you could start off with skin tones:
skin E000 E11 cheeks R20 hair E23 E25 E27 Y32 Y35 Y38 0 colorless blender
I purched my first 26 by looking at the color groupings on Papertreyink.com and Flourishes websites. They have lovely groups of colors that blend to gether and I wrote down the numbers of the collections I liked and then ordered those colors from Oozak.com. They were here in two days...working on second order already..I have a lot more to collect.

Marianne says; "Each gray has a slightly different feel. If you look at this sequence you can see that the W's are warm, almost brown, the T's are a little less brown, the N's are truly neutral, and the C's are sort of blue."
It would depend on the other colors in your picture. You don't want to mix warm tones with cool tones. I've done that and couldn't figure out what looked "off" until I read this post. I Like Markers: Shadows part 8 - Shading things close and far
She explains about using warm and cool tones for shadows. I finally bought greys in warm, cool, neutral and toner. It really helps!
For some of you that use your Copics daily, how often do you have to refill? And where is the best price on the refills? Thanks.
I have only had to refill once so far after a year for the following colors that I blend with most often-
E0000 E000 E00 E21 E25 E31 E33 E35 E50 Y21 Y23 G20 BG10 BG11 BG72
RV00 RV10 R20 R81 V000 B000 B91 and I just refilled V01 R35 E50 after coloring all my images for my holiday cards
I will need to refill my YG00 and BG0000 and E41 soon. Gotta order those.
I normally order from Oozak.com - their price is $4.90 if you are logged into their site. I usually get them within 3 days.
If I need them super fast and Oozak doesn't have the color I need, then I order them from an online store in my area- central new jersey- IHeartPapers.com... ordered the monday before thanksgiving and got my refills wednesday.

Sometimes if I just can't wait, I visit my lss -Scrapperscove and just have them fill up my markers for me...for $2 each.
Thanks Michelle. That really helps. I am new to Copics and didn't know what to expect as ongoing costs. Also thanks for sharing the list of colors you use most. That was awesome. I was trying to keep a little list of the colors I seem to pull out the most so I could order those refills. It seems like the lighter colors are the ones that get used the most because it's such a good base for any project. What a great idea for a store to offer $2 refills! I wish we had that here in Knoxville.
One more question to anyone: I was putting the finishing touches on a Christmas card and pulled out a new green copic to add a few touches of accent. It pooled out of the marker in a huge blob. I've tried using it again and it seems to be working ok now. But is this a problem anyone is familiar with?
Yes that can happen. Your marker became pressurized. If you remove the caps from both ends and let it sit for a few minutes the ink in the marker will equalize and redistribute itself. Happens if you take them on a plane.
i love the look and shading of copic markers,but cant justify the expense.i have heard that coloring with sharpie and bic markers can give you the same effect,but my end products dont look nearly as good.any advice?
Yes, invest in a few good Copic Markers. Sharpies don't have the colors to be able to do the shading like the Copics can. Yes they are a bit pricey, but check out oozak.com or carpediemstore.com where you can get them at a good discount.

I bought a few copics but so far, wasn't impressed. I guess I just don't do enough coloring to justify the expense. And no one seems to have classes on how to use them. Maybe that would get my interest up....
There are lots of resources to learn from, that's how I got started. I Googled videos on You Tube, found blogs, you may even want to check your local stamp stores to see if they are certified to teach copics.
I'm currently taking some on line classes with Suzanne Dean at scrapbitz.com - she has a link on her blog for her classroom and you can contact her about them, she's great.
Marianne Walker has a very good blog, and is a certified instructor for Copic - she'll give info for upcoming certifications on her blog.
The info is out there, and if you search, you can find it. Others will respond here with more info for you as well..... Good luck, you'll love them once you start using them, they're addictive!!!
I got started by using Marianne Walker's I Like Markers blogs (never took a class). I think she began blogging around September, 2008; it's best to start with the initial entries and work through chronologically. You would be reading the same stuff that is taught in the certification classes.
There are so many great tutorials out there on youtube for how to color with copics. I especially like Suzanne Dean - suzannejdean on youtube . I take two of her online copic classes on the Color Me Creative Classroom and the amount of information and detailed videos she provides are wonderful but the free ones on youtube are a great place to start. I also like Katie Cotton- Makeupartistkatie on youtube she has some videos on how to color round and cone objects that are very helpful. Also Zoe - MakeItCrafty on youtube....love how she colors and the copic color combination kits she sells in her store are great.

I have skimmed through a few blogs but haven't found a site that tells me how to do that. I don't have all the fancy refill equipment. I do have the refill bottle for colorless blender... how can I refill my marker easily? If you can direct me to a site that has that info I would be grateful! Blessings

THank you for the easy instruction links! I just refilled my Copic colorless blender and it went just perfect using the easy drip method. What a breeze - thought it would be very complicated since they sell that refill pack. But this is quite easy! Thanks much.
The booster kit is great for instructors who have class sets of markers (lots of the same color) to fill... otherwise just pull out the chisel nib and drip the blender into it from the refill bottle.
Tip... make sure you remove the cap from the brush end also so that you can watch closely. When the brush end turns shiny... stop... you are full!
Place the chisel nib back in and you are ready to go!!!

Thanks Colleen, for that tip! I read to be very careful not to overfill. Yet I had no idea how to tell. Since my blender pen was very dry, I went by how much is a typical fill, and stayed under that amount. I also did keep checking the brush end - and when it was feeling 'wet' I figured that was good. Your tip makes much better sense though. And much easier when dealing with the color inks!

I fill hundreds of markers about every other month (for classes) and I STILL over fill some of them... LOL
It won't harm your marker, it just wastes ink.
If you do overfill (it starts to drip out the brush tip) then put the chisel tip back in, let it sit for a bit and then if it still is drippy, scribble a bit on some scratch paper until it stops dripping. I also like to put the cap back on the chisel end first and watch the brush tip. Sometimes if it is just about too full the pressure of putting the cap on will squirt some out the brush end.
If you put the caps on when a marker is overfilled, you might end up with a cap that sticks tight or ink that drips out when you pull the cap off. (Ask me how I know! LOL)

I'm wondering if you could recommend an on-line course for Copics.
I live in the country and there are no courses available to me. I have a collection of Copics that I should be using and thought while I'm stuck at home in the snow this winter, this would be the perfect time to take a course.
I've read this thread and it's great and I've played with my markers but need to learn more.
