When I look at their site, the prices I get for the sketch are $4.85. They were $3.95. Am I missing something?
What is on sale?

Ok--I got it. It says $4.85, but when you put it in your cart, the price changes to $3.95.
I have not come across this before.

I checked my notes from the certification class, and I did NOT write down what the new colors are going to be. Guess we'll all be surprised. I seem to remember though that there might be something in the yellows and violets. If you look at the color wheel, there are a lot of places that can be filled in.

OK....just finished reading 94 pages of chatter.

Now on to finish the FAQs.

This is all consuming!! LOL Looking forward to my first class in January and to my new Copics on Christmas day....and my other new Copics at my class.

This is pathetic. I'll have 40 brand new markers and a ton I have on the list to purchase, but chomping at the bit to know what new colors are coming out.

To Copic Infinity and Beyond!

I just read on a artist forum that "copics are comparable to illegal addictive substances". LOL

Default Paper for Copics

I hope someone can make a suggestion. I am out of town for the holidays and need to finish some projects. I forgot my Neenah. I cannot seem to find it locally. I have Staples, Hobby Lobby and Michaels close by. I would prefer to purchase today instead of ordering. Do you know if any of the stores above have an alternative that would be high quality for Copic coloring?

Thank you very much.

You can buy Georgia Pacific white cardstock 110 weight. They should have this at Wal-Mart and just about anywhere else.

I had gotten a sample sheet at our Office Max of a paper
to try. It worked, but I still swear by my Neenah. Forget
HL or Michaels and go to an office (Staples) store and ask
to look at the papers behind their copy center and tell them
what you need it for. Instead of by a pack, just ask to buy
how many sheets that could get you by. Good Luck!

All I can say is that Michael's has the worst cardstock. Don't buy any from there. I think I'd go to Staples. I buy by GP from Office Depot.

I would go for this. I have used Hammermill and it works wonderful.

The Image Plus/Georgia Pacific I would not use it for final projects. Stamping isn't as crisp and coloring/blending is so/so. It's ok for practice coloring...but even that is pushing it for me. Just my 2 cents

They should have something in hobby lobby in the art section for these markers. Some say Copic on it as well ... but it is also personal preference.

Has anyone used Strathmore Bristol Smooth (100 lb) with any decent results. Great price and could not resist. I bought a few journals for practice coloring. I'm new at this.

I use Hammermill almost exclusively. Occasionally I will use another. I have a comparison of Hammermill, X-Press It Blending Card, Copic and Neenah on my blog. Note: NOT A PROFESSIONAL... these are just my observations.

Different brands of Bristol will react to the markers differently. I've tested about 30 different "art quality" papers (not considered cardstocks like paper crafters use) and I found that the Bristols work well but do soak up a LOT of ink and can feather easily.

Remember to test any and all papers/surfaces you want to use.

Question OK.. which compressor do I buy in AK??

Where do I sign up for Copics Anonymous?! And can anybody help re canned air or purchasing the correct compressor in Alaska? My DH got me the ABS-1 (yippee!) but there doesn't seem to be a can of air left in Anch. As we all know the regular AB air cans do not work with the Copic system. The Hobby Shop was a great help in this respect and I ended up looking at compressors a bit. I'm thinking about getting one now because I feel I will use it enough. I have been reading through posts tonight and it's been a great help all! If anybody has any Anch area info could they please let me know? So frustrating to have my new toy and can't play anymore! Ha! This is my first post (w/o reading instructions) so hopefully I can make this work. Feel free to PM me if that's possible. Again, thanks to you all for the valuable Copic-enabling info! I took Sherrie's class here last spring and have been playing (addicted) ever since Thanks again!

Good luck! I'm in Palmer..I know exactly what you mean. I can't find stuff locally so I internet shop. Yesterday I was going to buy some copic paper on sale but shipping was as much as the paper. I didn't buy it.

Actually it was Neenah cs.

All I want is a couple small samples of the differnt marker papers so I can compare it to the bristol that I have. But I will not pay $15+ just for shipping to AK. If I find something better than what I am using, then I would consider the high postage..it is so dissapointing to do a lot of work only to have the ink feather. Sigh.

It's so frustrating isn't it?! I try to buy local but sometimes it's just not possible - for six months! ha. I love where we live but this is one of those times I need to work on my 'living on AK time' and chill. (no pun intended, honest) I have a couple papers you don't have. I have white from PTI and I believe the other white cs I have is Neenah which I ordered from FL. I was going to order from Gina but was pleased with the Neenah so didn't. I'd be happy to mail some samples your way if you want to contact me. It'll keep me from running out and buying a compressor!
Trying to chill in South Anchorage...

Marco Papers in Ohio has Neenah Crest solar white and I also use 80# radiance Becketts expressions paper. Love the Beckett's line and have used it for a very long time. I took the Copic Certification class in Chicago and showed this to the instructors they thought it was great also. Google Marco Ppaer and they have a shipping special right now I think it's $5.95 for shipping and for paper that is heavy that's a great deal. I ordered 250 sheets of each one that I mentioned.

I put a few paper samples in snail mail for you yesterday. Did you pick up the Bristol at Blaine's? (seen their new digs?!) Last summer I didn't get paper there because it all had too much 'tooth'. Try the Neenah I sent you, it's the crest solar white and my fav so far. I also sent you PTI's recommendation and a couple SU's (coated) for comparison. Have fun and Happy New Year! Pamela~

This is only my (non-professional) opinion, but I have stopped using the Neenah Class Crest Solar White because it *always* feathers on me; it's especially bad with reds. I have happily used Gina K's cardstock, and have a huge supply of the new X-Press-It cardstock that Copic is now recommending. I think I like the Gina K better, but it's going to be a long time before I need more white cardstock!

I RARELY go to Anchorage, even though I was born and rasied there. I got the bristol from Fred Meyers. Slim pickings out here. I am going into Anchorage this next week because my son is leaving for boot camp and I do plan on hitting Blaines new shop when I go in. I probably won't buy anything - last time I was there everything was double or tripple the cost of online - unless I find something really special - but I have $20 in cash set aside for mad money and don't think it will go far there - lol!

I checked out Staples for the Hammermill. They don't have it in the store, and it's not real close to me so I'll have to plan if I am ordering it to ship it to the store in the future. Just an FYI, I don't know if other stores actually have it in stock.
Also, theirs is a 60 lb version (not 80 lb). There is an 80 lb version but not at Staples. Which explains why it felt thinner! HTH!

Google Marco Ppaer and they have a shipping special right now I think it's $5.95 for shipping and for paper that is heavy that's a great deal. I ordered 250 sheets of each one that I mentioned.
Only "special rate" shipping to Alaska = $$$

Well according to Copic-you can store either way. If you have a dry tip, take off the cap from both ends. This will distribute the pressure. Mine have been stored vertically since I got them in August and I have not had any issues.
I took Sherrie's class here last spring and have been playing (addicted) ever since ;) Thanks again!
I purchased mine at Harbor Freight - it was their own brand (which they refer to as Central). Anyway, I don't see a HF listed in AK, but they may ship it to you. Don't buy the expensive ($250) Sparmax that copic recommends - you can get a good compressor for about $60 - $70. You need one that has between 40 and 50 psi and one that has the 1/8 adapter. The one I got at HF met both these criteria. Here is a link to a video I did on air compressors and the copic system:

My husband orders from Harbor Freight and so they do shop to Alaska, he said their shipping is reasonable.

My husband has a small 40 psi air compressor for his air brushing, he got it from Sears.
