Joanne's had the Extra Fine White Sharpie Pens in their paint section. Mine had both the extra fine and the fine, but only had three Extra Fine pens left. I grabbed all three! I also have the Copic white opaque and I really like that. It's brighter/more opaque than the Sharpie pen and I apply it with the tip of a needle.

I was actually referring to the Sharpie poster paint pen that was referred to. Suzanne Dean talks about this, too. I cannot find it anywhere, unless they mean the one without the word "poster" in it (which I have, and hate )
The dot of the colorless blender would make a subtle spot, true. I like the whiteness of Suzanne Dean's paint dots, though--it "pops" more than a colorless blender spot would. I just wish I knew what she was using, or where to find it!
I use a white Souffle gel pen when I want something to really pop. You have to let it dry about 15-20 minutes, or give it a blast with your heat gun, but it is truly opaque. I just LOVE it for white accents on colored cardstock.

I don't have much to offer in the way of experience; I am just getting started with them myself.

But as far as markers with different numbers being similar, if you look at the circle shaped chart from the Copic web site here: http://copicmarker.com/library/

I was told by someone else who has experience that if two markers touch on that circle chart they are close enough in color that you wouldn't need both. Just an FYI.

I haven't been able to purchase enough to say if that's true for myself; but when I do purchase some I use that idea and don't buy both of the ones that are touching.

Lynn, I found the Sharpie white poster paint pen at Hobby Lobby. It was in the "Art Supplies" dept, not the stamping/scrapbooking section. I think there were poster boards, etc. on the same aisle. I had to ask a clerk where to locate it.

@cloetzu....in my previous post regarding the circle color chart, I should have said if the colors touch DIAGONALLY...they are close enough in color not to notice.

I don't agree. Each color group needs to be looked at individually, as you may find some very similar, but there are enough that are totally different that I wouldn't want people to get it too firmly stuck in their head that those are too close.

Hi there!

Was just wondering if anyone here has used copics on fabric to colour.

If so what kind of ink did you use so that it was not washed out in the laundry and is there anything you have to do to make the copic ink permanent on fabric.

I'm wanting to try making onesies and some T-shirts for my girlfriends.

TIA.

The ones at Joanne's are not the POSTER paint pens, and that's the one I have and hate!

Thanks, everyone for all the other ideas and tips! I will try them! And, ohmigosh the QUEEN responded--thank you, Suzanne!!!! I will be trying these, as I love the effect you get on your images with it. LOVE your cards and coloring!!!!

I was at Michael's friday and they had a brand new endcap for the Sharpie Paint Pens...including the Extra Fine Poster Paint Pen... they have not stocked the display yet but the guy told me to come back in about a week and they should have the shipment in. Maybe other Michael's will be carrying them now too.

Sherrie siemens stamps and colors on fabric all the time. Just use Brilliance ink, heat set, then put something absorbent under the area you want to color. The marker is already permanent, but watch out for the reds, they're really intense and will bleed, so test it first.

Default Fabric Coloring

I color on fabric with Copics all the time & have some tut's on my blog as well. I use Versacraft inks to stamp my images--they are made for fabric stamping so they are permanent BUT you can use them w/ Copics and they won't bleed. I always heat set the fabric item first, stamp & color and then heat set again to set everything. Works like a charm and it's fun to do!

hugz,
Suzanne

I made my daughter a night shirt a year ago and it's faded but still there, the Copics are permanent so they do well for a longer time, but like any ink they will fade over time. Yes, the dark reds and red browns tend to bleed so I try not to use those. If I need reds, I use the Versacraft ink pad in red and pick off ink from that with my paintbrush---their red does not bleed like the Copics.

Suzanne!

I am addicted to fabric stamping! I learned from your tutorials and have hooked my niece as well! My favorite is stamping on tea towels.

Thanks for sharing all you tips on tutorials.

Quick update. I went back to Michael's today and they had the shipment of Sharpie Poster Paint markers in! This is definitely the same one Suzanne uses and it works great. No blobbing, no skipping, no mess...just an extra fine crisp white line! I LOVE it! They also have the Sharpie Paint Markers so make sure you pick up the short stubby looking one marked Poster-Paint Extra Fine Point.

My Michaels here in Ottawa didn't have a spot for the poster paint pens in the empty display I saw. I'm going to have to go in and have a look again. Fingers crossed that they'll have them. My art supply store is sold out of them all the time.

Does anyone know of any Copic classes being offered in the Twin Cities area in MN?

Default First attempt at coloring

I vowed I was never going to buy Copics, but seeing all the beautiful coloring everyone does ... I finally broke down and now have about 180. I've been collecting - not coloring, but today I made my first attempt. Someone posted this image here and I loved how she did it. Sorry I don't remember who it was ... but you did great! This is my first attempt at coloring. I used Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper with Momento ink. I'd welcome any comments to tell me what I should be doing differently. Thanks.

WOW, if that was your first attempt, I think we've got a budding artist on our hands! Where are you getting theCopics? I just went on line to ozzsomething.com and was surprised by the shipping fees. Anyway, good job!

It looks beautiful!! You would never know it was your first Copic coloring project. You have your light source looking good! That is a very detailed image and it looks great.

I am amazed at how well I do because I am no way an artist. Those markers are the best. errr they better be for what the cost!

I use Gina K paper the 180 lb and I love it. I wouldnt use anyting else.

Take a bow!

Oh thanks so much! You ladies are too kind! I can't wait to try another image ... hope it goes as well. Chris - I've bought all my Copics from Carpe Diem Store - so far free shipping with $50 purchase of Sketch markers. They've given me great service and have called me on two different orders when one of the markers was OOS. I've been reading this thread for a week or so now ... I'm only half way through, but have learned a lot from all of you. I've also visited Marianne's blog .... she's awesome. There are no classes anywhere around here, so I need to learn from all of you! Thanks!!

What a great coloring job for your first attempt, congratulations!!! I also have followed Marianne's blog and another good one is Suzanne Dean's: scrapbitz.blogspot.com. She has lots of great tips and wonderful tutorials on YouTube. If you like them, you can sign up for her online classes (which is what I'm doing) and you have a year to complete them. She has videos, homework -if you choose, and on line chats and you can email her. The videos are awesome and so helpful. Right now she has a deal going where you can save on signing up for multiple Copic classes. You can't go wrong with hers...

Good luck and enjoy your new Copics.......

Chris, if you went online to oozak.com, they offer free shipping for orders of $50 or more (in the US). I've bought from them before, and have been very pleased.

Really? How did you swing that? CarpeDiem's website says free shipping on $100 or more of markers. Their prices are better than Oozak, but I don't want to order $100 worth of markers at a time.

Aspengirl, beautiful coloring job. I can hardly believe it's your first attempt. You certainly have the shading idea down pat! Lovely!

I don't know how to copy a previous post into my reply - sorry. I haven't ordered just recently from Carpe Diem .... sounds like the free shpg offers I was lucky to get have increased.

I'm not so sure I have the shading concept down. I tried to pretend the sun was shining from one direction, but I think I still struggled with it. I never did understand that in grade school art class!!

Thank you for all your kind comments .... it's encouraging indeed!

Well... you can actually blend the RV02 and the RV06 together, but you might want to get the RV04 to help since the 2 to 6 is a big jump.

Same with the BG01 and BG05... they are blendable by themselves... but the BG000 would be a good marker to get for a really nice three-color blend.

Thanks Linda D. I'm almost afraid to try another image for fear it will be a real flop. This first attempt might have just been beginner's luck. No time to stamp and color this week .... we're hosting my family reunion this weekend. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!

My darling gave me 10 copics for my birthday. My first attempt of using them is in my gallery. I have to say I have ordered several more copics which should arrive this week sometime, as I want more colours, especially skin colours. So I went off a suggested list of first colours to buy, and what I had so that everything will blend well. I'm so grateful for the tips and information that I have found her and on the blogs.

My Michaels here in Canada has the Sharpie Poster Paint markers. They aren't labelled as that. They are labelled as water soluble markers. I just started picking up different white markers and looking at them. Found the right one and bought 2 just in case!

If you register with Oozak the copics decrease in price. Right now they are 4.15
