I have trouble sometimes, too...what I find happens is that the darker color recedes too much when I go over the edge. Even if the colors are only 2 or 3 digits apart (sometimes)...I don't remember which colors do this.

I just find I have to do it several times, then, and do smaller sections so that the lighter color is still really wet when I add more dark and go back over the junction again. If that makes sense?!

Am fairly new to the copic world, have taken a course but find the more I practice, the better. One of the things seems to be blend, blend, blend using the lightest color first and than the darker back to the lighter. Blending two or three colors on acetate first helps, too.

I'm taking the MCC's Everything Copics now and the BIGGEST thing I learned this week was pick your colors WITHIN the SAME RING on the color wheel for better blending. This will help me with future purchases as I fill in the blank spots of my collection. I don't remember seeing that tip here and I've read most of what's here. I'm liking my Momento Tuxedo Black ink and Gina K. pure luxury 120 lb. paper and plan to buy the 80 lb. for layering.

Thank you for this little tidbit. I don't have any classes around me to take so miss out of little helpful hints like this. This one really does help especially in trying to decide which markers to buy next. Muchas Gracias!

I looked into it this morning, but the class you are in looks closed. There's another one for April. I would love to hear more about the class and how you like the format and information.

Is it true that you never really need all the colors? I know that they sell them in packs like set A and set B and in that fashion you can get them all, but is one set better color wise than the other, and does anyone here really use all of the colors?

I don't think you need ALL the colors even though they are beautiful to look at! It's best to decide what color families you think you will use most often (for flowers or jeans or skin, etc.) and then read through all the info here on SCS and on various blogs to see what blends people suggest for your favorite color families. Pick from the SAME RING on the Copics color wheel to find colors that go well together. Take a beginner class online for a better understanding of how the colors work together before buying lots of markers.

Suzanne Dean at: scrapbitz.blogspot.com is offering 3 levels of Copic classes. You can sign up for 1 or all of them and you have up to a year to take them. It's a great deal and if you sign up before the 15th you'll save $5 a class. Her work is great if you've ever seen her tutorials. They're not a certification, however most of the online classes aren't anyway. Check out her site, and see what you think......

After a few years of admiring the beautiful artwork in the galleries I finally broke down. HL has copics on sale for 30% off so I had to get a couple. My little outing went something like this:

Ok, I can only buy a couple, just to experiment and see if this is really what I want. Hmm, maybe in order to really experiment with blending I should get maybe 3 or 4 right? Right...3 or 4 but only 3 or 4. Ooh, that's a pretty red! Shoot, that purple is really nice too. Ok, I'll just get two in each shade. After a lot of arguing with the part of me that thinks about being financially responsible and the part of me that is obsessed with stamps and anything shiny I walked out with 9 markers.

I can only have 9 though. Just 9...

Mira,

Thanks for the laugh...I think we have all done that. Good for you. Enjoy your markers and I think I will visit HL (30% off section) this weekend, just to look

Me too! I saw the sale at HL and thought..Ok I will give them a try. I have seen some really beautiful artwork done with them. I said only 6. Then it went to 9..12 in the first trip. Then I was thinking I need some green. So I said only 6 more. I went back and ended up with another 12! So Not bad in a two day period. LOL! I can see myself buying more in the next round of sales. Now I find out that Staz on is bad and SU ink will not work..Great! That is all I have at home. So I am on the hunt tomorrow to get an ink pad. I have been doodling on plain paper. I REALLY wanted to color something tonight.

Okay, I never should have found the list and colored it in. I went to HL and bought 30 more. At least they were 30% off.

I bought 2, to see if I would like them, well I loved them, by then I knew I needed at lest 3 of one color, what do I use must? So many to choose from, my first buy was 50 + my second 40, but I use them every day.

I'm a newbie too, and love them! I have about 15 now and I'm getting about five more this Saturday. Slowly building my collection! They color so nicely! The tips are wonderful! Lots of fun to use!

the Copic craze just recently. . . . these markers are the bomb... but I'm wondering how many of you use the broad tip and how. I'm thinking I should replace it with the small fine brush tip...unless I can figure out how to use it.

Any thoughts or recommendations? TIA

I use the broad tip for coloring ribbon and flowers-things that are a little rough or bumpy like grosgrain ribbon. It's faster and I don't take chances on wearing out my brush tip.

I really love my Copic Sketch markers... problem is I've used them so much they have run out of ink! What to do?? If you have 100 the refills would run you 7.50 ea thats 750.00!!
Yes, I make a ton of cards... I donate them to our public library .. they sell them and the money all goes to the Children s' Summer programs.. Maybe I just use my Copics too much!

You are an awesome person for doing this to support the programs. Way to go.
I don't know much about re-fills would it be cheaper to just buy new ones on ebay?

Yes, I make a ton of cards... I donate them to our public library .. they sell them and the money all goes to the Children s' Summer programs.. Maybe I just use my Copics too much!

Do you have a friend that uses the markers too? I am fortunate enough to have a coworker and friend that uses Copics. We both have refills for the skin colors and a couple of our favorites that we use all the time, but other than that, we are not buying the same refills. We usually add a refill or two every time we order markers so it isn't a huge outlay at one time. We both have a list of what the other person has and I refill her markers and she refills mine.

I think My Favorite Things has a copic refill service - might be worth checking out (I have only had to refill one marker - after inking myself and my crafting table, I finally got the sucker done).

Check around your area and see if a local store has a refill bar... many stores are starting this service for their customers... bring in an empty marker and they refill it for a dollar or two... easy peasy!

I know MFT has one on-line.... could also be another good option for you.
