But, no matter what I do, the color bleeds outside the lines when I blend. The black ink doesn't smear, but the color bleeds.

Any ideas?

It sounds like your just adding a bit too much ink. Try laying down your lightest color and letting that dry. Then add your darker color and blend with the lightest color. Sometimes if you do it in steps it helps it not oversaturate the paper.

The paper underneath that was suggested is also a good idea.

So the ink CAN dry and still be blended later? I was trying to do all of the blending while the ink was nice and wet

Oh thank you so much! I have felt a little guilty, but I hope it dissolves after I get to play. This is going to be one long holiday weekend!

Yep! It's just easier to blend if wet. So by letting the base color dry first and then coming back with darker (and blending just that) you'll still be wet, but not as wet.

Anyone know where I could find the Copic matches to the new SU In Colors? The 2 spreadsheets I found did not have them. Thanks,
T

I actually purchased my first sets from the UK as the price was better for me exchange wise than the US.
Since you are in the UK you will get free shipping from....
http://www.cultpens.com/acatalog/Cop...h_Markers.html
of course he exchange rate has changed since I purchased a year ago but it might be worth checking out.

My Archivers here is having a Copics Christmas Card class starting in October which I'm planning to sign up for. But I still want to go to the class in San Antonio in December. I can't wait to learn more about how to use these things.

Default JoAnn's 50% OFF Coupon thru 9/27 & 12 PK Colors

I've "enabled" several friends to try Copics after they have used them in my card group. Thought we would put in a combined order at CarpeDiem Store, but they have changed their price back to $4.25 and I don't think they are offering Free Ship.

Just received a 50% off coupon to use on-line at JoAnn's this coming week. So, their 12 PK Ciao Copics should be $26 and the 36 PK Ciao Copics should be $75. I prefer the feel of the Sketch markers, but this seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Here are the colors in the 12 PK Basic:
YG06 Yellowish Green
BV08 Blue Violet
G17 Forest Green
V09 Violet
BG09 Cool Shadow
RV04 Shock Pink
B29 Ultramarine
R29 Lipstick Red
YR07 Cadmium Orange
E59 Walnut (I think this is the color - hard to read on the box)
100 Black
Y06 Yellow

Please let me know if I misread any of the colors. Hope this is helpful!

I'm a new member here at splitcoast stampers, and also new to card making. I have purchased some copic sketch markers and have been practicing. I kept running into problems with the colors bleeding outside of the stamp image on regular cardstock. So I decided to get on the splitcoast stampers website and check the forums to see if anyone else was having the same problem. I found that people were suggesting to use Momento Ink in Tuxedo Black, and to use Gina K. Designs 120lb luxury cardstock. So I purchased both products, and colored my first image last night. I can not believe the difference in the paper! Her paper is so soft and smooth, that it actually made it easier to color & shade the image. Not only was the image nice and crisp, you can feel the raised image. Thank you gals for all your input on the forums, us newbees appreciate all the feedback! I'm actually having fun coloring now instead of being frustrated!

It's important to find a paper you like for copics and stick to it. Every paper is a little different, but you've chosen one of the best....you can always find other brands and types among the mb if you'd like to try others.

Watch out though......copics are "marker crack"......very addiciting

When did Joann start selling Copics? Do they sell them only in sets, or individually too?

Which Copic colors do you use most often?

Which colors do you think are so similar to each other, that you wouldn't need them both?

Does anyone have a complete Sketch color chart so that I can see each markers' TRUE color?

Ah, but the beauty of Copics is having colors that are similar so you can do blending

Does anyone have a complete Sketch color chart so that I can see each markers' TRUE color?

Thanks
you can order a hand colored chart for the main website for $15.00---www.copicmarker.com

or one accurately made by a computer program from Sally Lynn MacDonald at www.inkyheart.typepad.com

I guess I was just hoping someone could scan their chart and post it here.

The problem with looking at the charts on computers is that different monitors show the colors differently. My pc and my husband's laptop show the colors so differently that you wouldn't think the 2 colors could be the same.

I found what I was looking for.
Here are some charts if anyone else would like a "closer to true view" of Copic colors.

Just remember that although the poster has tweaked the colors in an editing program to look more like the real colors on HER screen... they may show up differently on YOUR screen.

Each computer shows colors just a bit differently.

(This is a cool visual though.)
