Here in the St. Louis area, the saleslady acted like she hadn't heard it. I had already heard it and was anxious to know when. They also didn't have Tim Holtz alcohol inks.
So they are making changes.

Archiver's will be getting Copics in the next month I'm guessing because they already have Copic Christmas card classes scheduled at the very beginning of October on the Archiver's website nationally.

They are so adorable! I know you will love them. I haven't had a chance to stamp mine yet but I did trim them so they are ready!
I am a huge fan of the sugar nellie images, they are adorable and totally cool to colour with copics!
To New Zealand it only takes a week and a half for delivery at the most. Awesome service.
And check out their Gorjuss Girls range.... totally fab. I inked my first one up yesterday and she IS Gorjuss!

Looking for some help please. I'm sure somewhere in the 3000+ posts, there is a spreadsheet or .pdf file of the Copic colors that match the SU colors. I would like to limit my next purchases to the SU colors including the InColors. Thanks in advance for any help!

I too am a huge fan of these stamps and their shipping is super fast to the states and cheaper than most of the online companies I order from here. These stamps are great to color with copics and are just so adorable. I love the gorjuss girs and the Sweet Art Ebony series, oh and the Home Grown!!! Now I just need to hit the lottery so I can buy them all, LOL!!!

Yes, all the Hobby Lobby stores carry the same 72 colors of Copic Sketch markers.

For what it's worth...I would stick to the Sketch. The Ciao has a lip inside the lid...and if you are not careful when putting the lid back on...you can damage the Nibs. (Ask me how I know!! ) Also...the Sketch is available in all colors - the Ciao are not.

I have both and don't really have a preference. The ciaos don't hold as much ink so may dry up faster but otherwise I haven't had any issues.

I would stick with the sketch. I started with ciaos and then switched and like the sketch better because of the info on the cap. Much easier to find the marker I am looking for. They also fit the air gun and you don't need to make any kind of modifications with them. With the ciao you need to add raised sticky tape or hold the marker in the right spot with the air gun. This is if you ever plan to get a compressor/air gun.

I have had some issues with the lid catching the nib (not the brush, the other end), too; but otherwise I got the Ciaos if the color I wanted came in that style, because they are cheaper and I could afford more colors that way. I am not as concerned about how much ink it holds (after all, that's the advantage of being refillable!), and I never look at the number on the end so that's not a big deal to me. I also do not plan to airbrush.
It's totally preference, no right or wrong; no reason you can't have both

Thanks for all your advice. Will prob just collect both depending on colours. I do like sketch in order to see colour on lid but my local craft shop stock ciaos so saves on p&p meaning I can get more.

Is it just me or has anyone else had the experience that the ciaos are a little bit easier to manuvere than the sketch? I have mostly sketch markers but decided to fill in my collection with the ciaos where the colors were available and when I use them, I find that I am able to use a lighter hand and blend more easily. Maybe it is just the round shape that is a bit easier for me to work with. I say if you are on a budget, get ciaos for colors that you will only be using for shadows or are not your favorites since they are less expensive and you will be using them sparingly anyway.

Although you pay more for the Sketch, they have more ink...and nobody likes to have a marker go dry. The re-inkers cost about as much as the markers (but fill many times over).

Default Certification Class

I'm trying to get information about registering for the Grand Rapids, MI certification class that is announced on Marianne's blog for October. I've gone to the link in the side bar of her blog; does anyone who has taken one of these classes know how exactly you get a registration application? Do you just register on the Copic site for their emails and class up-dates and wait for them to contact you? I am SO hoping to get into this class and am afraid I'm missing something between Marianne's blog and the Copic website! Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks,
Claudia

To get into a class if you didn't get an application on the first mailing you need to send me a direct e-mail. [email protected]

I'll be happy to send it out to you

Thanks again for really good advice. Is it just me or does it take everyone quite a while to colour an image in!!?? I am fairly new to copics so maybe I just need to speed it up a bit. What's your average time to colour in a stamped image say of a figure - nothing too big? x

Default Time to color an image

I am getting faster at coloring. It can take me 3 minutes to about 20 minutes to color a small image, depending on how much I shade. The part that takes me the longest is picking out the colors I want to use and blend with. I am already figuring out a few of my favorites and with those I can color a lot faster. I LOVE the way the copics look. I have searched for this type of coloring medium for about 20 years. I am sure I will get faster as I figure this out. I am taking the Copic Certification class in Sept. from Marianne in Minneapolis. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. Darlenea

Thanks girls for all this great info! I am looking to add to my collection and I read this morning that the Carpe Diem Store has Sketch markers on sale for $4.25 . I haven't placed my order yet, so I don't know what colors they actually have in stock! LOL Mona

I have both the Sketch and Ciao (saw your earlier post), and you'll get faster. It's the blending you do. I too, take more time deciding my choice of colors to use, because I have all of them, except some of the grey ones, so I just get picky about what shading I want to use. It is so much fun like everyone else has said, and I've learned from what I've seen other women do -- a great sisterhood of knowledge to share out there, and this is a great way to get it!! It is addicting......

I don't remember who mentioned on here about My Creative Classroom a few weeks ago, but thanks for letting us know about the class. I've got to order a few markers to have at least one correct color combo, but I'm excited about learning more about these wonderful markers!

It was probably my response that you read about My Creative Classroom and their "Everything Copic" class. I took it in April and I can tell you that you will not be disappointed! It is a FANTASTIC class! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Have fun in the class! You won't believe how much you learn!

I'm trying to figure out if this is a good deal for a new set of Copics. I found someone selling a set of 36 for $100.00.

If you're talking about the original (square) or the sketch (oval), yes this is a good deal. Your next question to ask would be how often the markers were used? Though you can always buy the refills.

http://www.carpediemstore.com/ has them on sale this weekend, ciao for 2.85 and I believe 3.65 for sketch. If you order 80.00 of sketch you get free shipping, one of the markers must be from the new colors.
I just placed a large order after much contemplation and reading this thread, as well as blogs. I've used almost exclusively SU's ink over the last 7 years, so I am not sure what I've gotten myself into. I'm going to go get some new black ink and paper this week, anxious to get my shipment!

welcome to the darkside!! I love mine more than I ever thought I would. I felt guilty about my initial purchase worried I was spending all that money for another thing "I had to have but would never use" but I use them all the time and have zero regrets!!

Since this seems to be 'the thread' for all things COPIC, I am hoping you call all help me out and let me know what I am doing wrong...

I use..
- COPIC sketch markers
- Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
- Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80#

But, no matter what I do, the color bleeds outside the lines when I blend. The black ink doesn't smear, but the color bleeds.

Any ideas?

TIA

I use Sketch markers, Mememto Tuxedo Black ink, but I use either GinaK designs, Papertrey c/s or I use Georgia Pacific 110# that I get by the ream at Office Depot. I don't have any trouble using any of that cardstock with bleeding.
