I have invested in 103 sketch markers and I love everyone... Will checkout the new markers and will probably get them. I like my other light markers so they might be a must. How did we live without them before???? Great investment.

That is where they really won me over - I never have to splash out for another marker again I can just refill and maintain the ones I have!

Thank you for all your great info and re-assurance I just took a look at you're blog and can I just say I LOVE LOVE LOVE how u reference the colors u use in your pictures! This is a great tool for a newbie like me!

For all those who are thinking of storing your copics in those clear containers with dividers from Office Max,,, THEY ARE ON CLEARANCE!!! $3-10 UDS Better get em before they are gone. I bought 2, I know I don't have enough copics to fill them but in time I will and I really like those storage cubes. Just thought I'd get the word out cause I seen quite a few posts about them here.

Default Just ordered mine

I ordered a set of Sketch - the 72 A pack - from carpediemstore.com and went for the 2 day shipping since I am in NH. I can't wait until they get here!! My stamping stuff has been in storage for a YEAR because I don't have a space in our apartment but I am getting it out this weekend and am going to find someplace to set up. I can't take it anymore.

Default HELP!

I got my first Copics last week and I'm having problems with bleeding. I've tried GP, and PTI paper, and they bled on both. I've been using Neopiko markers and haven't had any bleeding issues with those. What am I doing wrong?

I have found I have trouble with reds more than any other color when it comes to bleeding. I try to use the colorless and it still leaves somewhat bleeding.

You may have a humidity problem?

This might help.
http://ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/200...tercolors.html

I know I have said before about setting Palette and Memento inks with my heat gun and people have told me to not be ridiculous it doesn't need it - maybe the inks don't but the paper does.

Thank you, that is very interesting to me.. I hadn't heard this before. I will dry my paper out with a heat gun and try it here. I live in the Redwoods (Northern California on the coast) and there is a lot of moisture in the air. It doesn't get hot here so there is a lot of moisture. Really appreciate the help.

There is a Copic Certified girl up in Redding, CA. She might be able to help you out.

Go to the COpic site and search the certified people.

I thought I'd find the answer to this in the earlier part of the thread but to no availability, so I must ask. I dont like asking questions that have been asked/ answered a dozen times.. and apologize if it's been brought up recently.

I hear everyone mentioning they us clear EP with Copic. What kind of Ink pad can u use with this process, (ie. memento, versafine)? & what brand EP are you using? I currently have Ranger & SU Clear.

Are we only suppose to use Dye based ink w/ copics?

Where do u get these ink pads at online? I have had trouble with finding both inks brands available on one website. Do I need both brands? which online stores are the quickest with shipping? or does michaels sell it?

I just got some new markers in, and am trying to protect my investment! I
can't believe I have so many yummy markers I can't play with cause I don't have the right ink-pad to match I ordered the markers from carpediemstore and did not see the ink pads their so figured I'd have to get them somewhere else.

Please help I'm in need of a copic marker & paper playdate!

Hi Angela,
If you use clear EP I believe you can use any inkpad you would normally use when embossing. Any clear EP should be fine too - just avoid the coloured ones.
You don't have to heat emboss - if you stamp with Memento you can colour with Copics without a problem.
I hope this helps.

I know not many do this, but I use Marvy dye black ink with my Copics. No heat setting needed if using absorbent cardstock such as Georgia Pacific or Neenah. If the paper is coated, I do heat set the ink. I get great results with the Marvy dye ink pad.

I use Memento Tuxedo Black when I don't want to heat emboss or heat set-just stamp and color right away, no problem with bleeding.

If I want to heat emboss, I use Versafine Onyx Black with DETAIL Clear Embossing Powder.
You can use any ink pad when you emboss (usually people use a "Pigment" pad".) Just be sure to use the DETAIL Clear EP. Any EP with metallic finish will be "eaten away" by the alcohol in the Copics.

I have had no luck getting these pads at Michaels. either.

On-line try: www.creativeplaystamps.com

www.franticstamper.com

These 2 places sell BOTH Memento and Versafine

So are you all saying if I Heat emboss I can use a SU ink pad with my copics?

Reason I am confussed is I have done (emboss W/ SU basic black craft ink (pgment) & clear EP and the ink did smear. I mostly used my bic markers and those are alcohol based, so I was afraid to try the copics and risk messing them up. I have only been using my copic on images that did not have too many lines and tried to keep off the inked lined part of the image.. that is no way to live!! lol

Yes. I am using basic Black craft pad w/ Ranger super fine clear EP. once dired I color the image with bic mark & it smears. I have been to afraid to use my copics so I only colored the images that had allot of space between the lines, because I was afraid of ruining my tips on the copics. Some of the tips on the bic mark its are shot cause I have been using them anyway. I have nothing else to use to color my images with.

I think the alcohol used in the Bic MarkIts is different than in the copics. They do smell different and that might have somethingto do with the problem.

I think your problems will be solved by checking my response #2572 ( I think that's the number) and use those pads. You can get them at either site I listed. Both sites carry them.

With Memento, you do not have to emboss. With the Versafine, you do or it will smear. I am not crazy about dragging out the heat gun and the embossing powder, so I use Memento a LOT!

OK. I am jumping in here without having read a lot of the previous discussion. I see you have no response to your question about "copic site" yet, that's why I am responding.

There are a lot of copic sites:
www.ilikemarkers.com, www.copicmarker.com are just 2 of them.

What were you looking to find out about? Maybe I can direct you,

I have actually had success WITHOUT heating the Versafine, most of the time (occasionally it does smear, so I'm not quite sure why...perhaps the paper, the humidity, certain colors, or I'm blending more heavily).
You can get Memento dew drops at JoAnn's (pack of 4) if you want to try that ink...
That is strange that you (mireles4) are getting bleeding of the ink after embossing, though. Maybe it is the brand of ep??? Because once embossed, the actual ink should have no bearing on it, KWIM? I will say that the Copics do behave differently than the Bics sometimes (not always), as far as bleeding and smearing...I did the Bics first and was almost not going to get the Copics because of that, but once I tried the Copics I found it they were a little different.
I don't use detail clear ep, just regular clear ep, if I do emboss.
Also, I found that some images which aren't "open line" are harder to color because if you go over the ep many times (like when you are blending), it can wear off just from friction. I have a rosebud image which has shadows already on it and that one is very hard to color with Copics if it's embossed. Does that make sense?

Aren't the tips on the Copics replaceable, also? Several people have mentioned concern about ruining the tips of such expensive markers, but if the tips are replaceable then you aren't ruining the whole marker (albeit you still have to buy a new tip, which may not be cheap?!)

Replaceble nibs for Sketch/Ciao are available

COPIC SKETCH/CIAO Nibs - Medium Broad, 10pk
msrp: $5.95

COPIC SKETCH/CIAO Nibs - Super Brush, 3pk
msrp: $5.95

Even at the MSRP price you have the ability to change your nib and keep your markers! Have I told you lately how much I love thes babies!

And I am pretty certain that Marianne on Ilikemarkers has said you can put other nibs in from the original if that is what you prefer.

I'm sorry...but I've run out of ideas. Can someone post a link to (one of) the thread that referenced the copics to in-colors?

I can't search...it keeps crashing the site for me?

Oh, good for you! Were you expecting them? What a fabulous job you did comparing!

I thank you REPEATEDLY for all the info and work you share. Ages ago I modified your downloadable color chart and I just re-did it for the new colors......I can never leave well enough alone....LOL!

And made sections by 0s and 1s and 2s etc. It helps me decide what colors to grab as I go....

It's the third tab marked "grouped". ( I never even thought to add the spica pens, I may have to re-think it...)

This weekend I plan on filling it in all over again to accommodate the new colors!!!

Quite a nice surprise.....although I do hop over the border to get them, if I had to wait for customs it would take FOREVER!

The stores here in Japan have started carrying the lighter colors and I picked up a few this weekend. VERY nice! I discovered a couple new craft stores and I'm going to be in crafting heaven from now on. WoW! The Spicas don't seem to be as popular though, I've only seen them in one store and only a couple of colors.
