Have you colored with them yet, how is the learning curve? I'm so excited! I can't wait to try mine.

I just got my first set of 12 Copics last Saturday and am trying to learn all about them. I can't believe there are 67 pages in this thread alone! I've gotten through 2 pages so far...this may take a while.

I've been stalking this thread, learning, but haven't posted yet. I just got my first copics a few days ago and I am very "artistically challenged" but I've been watching lots of tutorials and my images are already starting to look fairly decent after only a small amount of practice, so I'm sure you'll do great!

The learning curve isn't that bad at all! They take a little getting used to, but are oh so fun. Just play with them. I've colored paper, cork and fabric so far with no real issues.

Could anyone give me yellow combinations?
I really need yellow and have no clue. I can't find this on any of the sites. I'm wanting to color a rain coat in SCACD - singing in the rain

Several have mentioned Suzanne's blog at: www.scrapbitz.blogspot.com. I can't recommend this highly enough. It is an invaluable site if you want to learn copics! She is so talented. I had checked out another video on how to use copics, but my technique improved greatly after watching several of her videos. She has great tutorials for ALL hair colors, skin colors, clothing, and has just started recommending groups of colors for people just starting to buy Copics. Check her out--- you won't be sorry!

It doesn't work for me either. I switched to doing lightest color first and then adding in the darker shading and going over again with the light. I have had much better results working that way instead of darkest first.

I have bought from Merriarts.com or Merriart.com. Very fast delivery. They are on the Oregon coast. If you live back east I would go to Oozak.com. I have order from both companies. The markers run about 4.89 each plus you get free shipping over $50.00 or $100.00.

Personally I buy from Oozak.com because it's free shipping at $50...markers are $4.87 each. I love that website because the guys keep it updated on the side as to when they are anticipating shipments etc, and you usually get the product in about 2-3 days. Their speed is incredible, and customer service is awesome.

At first I worked light over dark over light........that came very easily to me. After I was comfortable with my results, I watched videos on line again, and increased my skills. I've only owned copics a couple months....but I love them. Back up to a simpler technique, and I bet you'll be successful (and addicted), and then go back to the videos to learn more........

I have to blend, blend, blend to get a good coloring but it works.

I have not tried the light than the dark. I guess it is whatever will work for the individual.

Talking YouTube Tutorials

Yeah! I finally decided on additional colors for my collection and got them ordered today! I purchase from CarpDiem and expect them by mid week Thanks to all that helped with that agnozing decision!

Now to start watching some tutorials on coloring/blending. I'm better with videos. Can you share your favorites? I'm figuring most are on YouTube but there are ALOT of them and would love to hear everyones opinions on which are their favs.

Thanks much!

Default suggestions for yellow in the 0s? or BG1s?

Does anybody have and like any from the Y0... group

like Y00 or Y04

I can't find any recommendations on this group. I have markers in every other color group of "first number" 0....and thought i would round it out.

I also don't have anything in the BG1... group I'm looking at BG15....but I'm reading many prefer BG13 and BG18.

Thoughts? TIA.

I have a bunch of yellows y06, y08, y11, 13, 15, 17 and y21 and even y28 for shading. Funny you asked about yellows today because marianne's blog has how to color blonde hair with them ilikemarkers.blogspot.com I think thats right. I took a class not too long ago and the instructor said a good rule of thumb when ordering is lower than 5 is coloring and higher than 5 is shading. I would go into a store and ask if you can see the colors yourself before you buy. If you cant see yourself ever using it dont buy it. hth

I'd like some to play with but already have the Y11 and Y15. The copic wheel shows that Y00 and Y04 are pretty close to those...

I could go for Y000 and Y02? Or is Y02 too close to Y11?

Default Oozak

When shopping at Oozak, log in and *then* add items to your cart. I was very pleased with my order placed today following that progression (new Spica colors and a handful more browns I "needed").

I heard from Archivers that they will start carrying Copics in Aug! I wrote them and asked them to please start carrying them so I wouldn't have to order them online!
They wrote back and said the stores were already working on carrying them and they would be available in August at the stores!
Only problem...they are going to carry 72 colors...what? I need more than 72 colors! he he

Thumbs up Gina's paper

Gina's Luxury card stock is fabulous for copics. The paper makes the difference. There's just one problem, putting copics and Gina's paper together is addicting.

I would also like to try Gina K's Luxury Cardstock. I heard it's wonderful for Copics.

Right now I only own about a dozen Sketch markers so they just sit on my table. I'd love to get the Making Memories lazy susan for them. But I'm afraid they would look so sparse and lonely that I would have to go out and buy a huge set. And my credit card can't handle that right now.

I can't use her luxury cardstock. My silhouette will only cut thru 90 lb. paper.

Speaking of which.............I am curious as to how many colors folks do have. Those that don't mind would you post how many you do have and what kind they are (sketch or caio).

I am asking because since this thread has started I have bought 85 markers. I thought it would be enough but I dare to think I need more.

Scrap2day are they going to carry sketch?

Scrap2day are they going to carry sketch?
I have 105. Maybe 30% original and 70% sketch. I strategically planned the tip colors depending on what I may use it for. It was fun and bordered on obsession. I just ordered 3 more. I was ordering 20 at a time every month for a while...these are the first time I've ordered more since January.

I am also really interested in the new "light" colors coming our way. I'm generally pleased with my choices...but I think I have three colors in the "close enough" category that they are practically the same as others. Can't decide if I should hold onto them or pass them on. I don't NEED anymore....I'm just now filling in a couple holes here and there.

I bought all the Ciao's and love exploring them. I have one Sketch which is another black 110.

The new colors all end in 0000s except for C00 and W00.

I'm so jealous! I'm pretty new with Copics and I feel I had made some bad decisions on colors. But reading here has helped so much! I have 18 sketch and 12 Ciaos. A stamp convention helped me see more colors than my little store.
I'll be watching for all your colors combos!

Default Number of Markers

I don't want to count. If I don't count, then I don't know. If I don't know, it must not be an addiction....... That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

Reality is, that I probably have around 100--a couple original, a couple ciao, but 95% sketch...

There was an old poll I started to see how many everyone had...maybe it should get done again, since then I know quite a few girls on here who have nearly a complete collection, and then there were only 2 I think.

I have about 200 (Sketch only), but have been making up my next order of about 25 colors I *need*...LOL

We moved at the end of April, and my scrap room is still under construction so I hate to order now only to find out why I don't have those...as I haven't used any since they got packed up in March.
