I've bought from HM Stamps MANY times....more times than I should admit...best prices & he has ALL the PB stamps!!

I use H2O's to deepen the shading in my coloring....I just bought a big pack from Frantic Stamper, & although I don't have them *all* (I wish) I do have about 50 ....that should suffice (notice I said *should*, lol)

I'm expecting my last order (for at least a few months until my budget recovers) of Copics today.

I still need about 30 colors and about a dozen grays. <sigh> When are the new pale colors coming out???

Oh yeah, Dick serious ROCKS! He's such a cool dude.

Okay, here are the duplicates that I have:

Sketch markers
R22 never even opened
N08 never even opened
YG06 opened long enough to go "Doh! I already have this color!!!"
BG75 and BG78; may have been used to color in my chart. I had two of each in my box without realizing it.

1 lonely Ciao that I bought and then replaced with a Sketch...
RV02 used for cheeks and ears on my House Mouse images a few times.

Yes he is wonderful. He will match prices and make sure you get the best deal. I bought most of my PB stamps from him and also some House Mouse and Happy Hoppers. It takes some time to navigate because the website is primitive but it's well worth it. I highly advise emailing him with any questions because he responds promptly and is very helpful.

that's funny, i too was thinking, "what is up with this website?" it's so "old school". i gave it 5 seconds and then moved on. i'm glad you all say that it's worth the trouble. i will have to go back and keep clicking to find what i'm looking for.

Its where we buy our paper.

Wow, thanks! I didn't even think to look there. I drive directly past an Express store on my way home from work so I've been stopping there way too much lately!

Question List of 22 Must Haves

I hope this isn't a dumb, naive question but when you referenced a "list of 22 must haves" were you talking about a list of copic colors? I really hope so! I have been searching and searching for some kind of beginners list so that I have a starting point! I read this forum whenever I get a chance, which isn't often since I work full time and have an eight month old, so I hope I'm not looking/asking for something that has already been discussed!

Thank you in advance for your assistance!!!

I have a question, of all the grays, which specific markers are good to have? I don't really need 44 grays do I? Or do I? I couldn't possibly lol

I'm hoping you guys have some suggestions for me regarding storage.

Currently, I have 3 cute silver/tin pails that I'm keeping my copics in. I have mostly Originals, but also now some Sketch. And I've out grown the 3 containers, and I can't find more to match
I love having them easily accessible, but it also has to look good because I like to have my markers out on my stamping desk. Amuse had a gorgeous container in a few different colors, but I was wondering if there might be another alternative? I suppose I could always find new pails and rebuy the 3 plus enough to hold all of my recent and future purchases. But the pails I have I love because they are sleek and modern - not at all rustic or country....not that I'm opposed to rustic....HELP!!!!
What do you guys use?

I think they're talking about what Cher had posted on her blog. It's a list she put together.

Um........you do need them all, lol. Not really, unless you're a fine artist and care about matching cool, warm, and neutral tones (thats why there's so many).

I find people either tend to like Cool or Warm Grays. Going Neutral wouldn't be bad either...but I'm more of a Cool Grey gal myself.

So would it be a good idea to get say 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 of each, (ie C1, W1, T1 and N1 etc...)

I just texted my husband and asked him "can I have $200 please" he asked for what, and I told him, Copics while they're still the low price, he said maybe we can make a deal. I sure hope so, That would get me about 50 more, I'd feel almost complete at 107.

Yippee, he said yes! After he said yes I told him I'd have dinner made for him reliably for a month...he loves dinner lol, and I am not always good at making it, so he's happy, I'm happy. I gotta go pick out colors!

I recently purchased and received THIS I really like it!
The good part is that if you "layer" your desk this can easily go up on top of something else whereas when they are in pails it is harder to see what is in each one unless they are on the desktop. That was the reason I splurged for the rack. I can put it on top of my ink pad rack and make more use of my space.

Okay, I've got a quick question. The few copics I have, I've just been using my GP cardstock and don't really have any complaints. I did buy 3 sheets of the Neenah Solar White Smooth to try today. What I'm wanting to know is this: if you have tried the Neenah paper and the PTI white cardstock, do you have a preference between these two? I have colored PTI cardstock I love, but hadn't purchased any of their white yet (waiting until the new release to order anything). I know a lot of this is purely personal preference, but wanted some input. Thanks!

I am no expert but I recall someone saying you'll never need the "10"s. I personally wouldn't get the T's if I got the others, but it depends on how much gray you do. Also, I personally don't like the W's much--icky greenish to me (JUST MO!).
I have the 2, 4, 6 and 8, and sometimes I wish I had the in betweens! Especially the 1, for a pale shadow...
my limited experience!

I personally do not feel the urge to get any Ts. I have Cs, Ns, and Ws. The Ts are between Ns and Ws and I have tried them in person (go Dick Blick!) and did not feel even the smallest twinge. Just me, but it's a very subtle difference to the Ns. On the other hand, I do like and use my Ns a LOT (along with the Ws and Cs). So take that for what it's worth, but I can't recommend the Ts, and I am not exactly winning any prizes for self-restraint! I like the 0s, though, for easy shadows around things-- very soft. I recently added 0s and am pleased with them, but you will know how you color and what you think you'd use. My darkest are 7s and 8s, and I have never felt the need to go darker, even when coloring black things like penguins and cauldrons, but again, YMMV.

Hello, I've tried to read this whole thread but have to admit by page 7 I realised I just wasn't going to manage it. I've decided to take the plunge and go for some Copic Ciao but I don't want to spend a fortune to start with, just in case I don't get on with them. I've read in the early pages of this thread that I should avoid buying a set and go for individual pens. Please can anyone suggest 10 to 20 starter colours for me. I want them for colouring stamped images - I go for things like Penny Black.
Many thanks.

I just wanted to post here in the Copic chatter thread, that I started an image swap for images that are good to color with Copics. The link is in my signature. There's a good selection of images so far I hope it's ok to post here. If not just ignore

Erin - I would join your swap, but I don't have the required ink and paper supplies.

Just an FYI - if you're coloring with Copics, you can stamp in dye ink. I stamped in Marvy Black recently. No bleed whatsoever! I'll be using it from now on.

Hmm, didn't know that, but haven't done any of my own experiments. Which paper do you use?

I normally use a #100 CS that I get from a local paper supply store. Or, if there are image swaps with stricter paper requirements, I use Archiver's white.
