I am sure this has been asked, so I am sorry for asking again, but I need some advice. What is the best paper for coloring with copics and where do you get it.

I have heard the Neenah Clasis Cres #80 is good.....what do you think?

any others?
thanks Teresa*~*

Default markers

I have a question, I have some Copic markers, some Bic markers and some Sharpie markers. Is there any problem with using all of them on the same image? It will not 'hurt' the Copic markers- they do seem to all blend very nicely for the little bit I tried with them........

any thoughts?

Thanks,
Shelly

Marianne's blog is jam packed with info. Much of this I just learned by doing, so you have a head start.

My biggest thing was finding the right paper and ink that worked for me. Everyone will have a different opinion here on that. Once you get the right paper/ink combo that fits you the rest is just practicing.
I've been reading her blog as much as possible, so much to learn there but so helpful.

I do have a good ink/paper combo that came pretty easily after reading through this thread.

I came across this suggestion yesterday on a blog. Who sells this card stock? So far I have only been using GP110lb, but would like to try something new.

Here's a link to a google search for it. I haven't found any place local, so has to be bought online.

http://www.google.com/search?q=Neena...ient=firefox-a

I've been trying a variety of c/s. So far I really like the GinaK designs 120 lb. I've also been trying the PTI 120 lbs. and the GP. All of those work really well.

I just want to say Hi and introduce myself. My name is Robin and I have mainly just lurked and enjoy reading and learning so much from everyone on Copics. You all are so bad at enabling. I have made 4 seperate orders before the prices went up on them. So I am now up to 93, some Ciao and some Sketch (and already ordered a couple doubles, LOL). I haven't played too much with them yet, so I really have a lot of learning to do. The site you recommend are great. I alos enjoyed seeing how everyone has them stored. I found this cute little basket at the flea market to put mine in, and there is room in there for a few more, LOL. I will try to upload a picture of it later on. Again thanks for everyone's help and look forward to learning so much more.

Teresa...I actually buy mine locally from a paper store called xpedx. I have both the #120 and #80 sheets. I believe that you can order it online here...https://b2b.xpedx.com/. If you have trouble let me know and I'll see if I can find my receipt with the number and website. HTH.

Marianne,
If you are still here I signed up for information on the Copic class but have not heard anything...I know it's a ways off (Ohio in May) but I just wanted to be sure the "registration" actually went through. Should I have gotten any kind of response? I'm surely hoping it will open up past store owners!
Thanks!

looks like you have to have an account (or get the info from a sales rep) to access that site...but I googled xpedx and got the retail store location list https://shop.xpedxstores.com/Portal....N=63E64C5D9DF9, and there's one less than 20 min away from me! woo hoo! the only thing is, I don't see "Neenah" listed on their products??

For my fellow Copic addicts: is there any societal value in Twinkling H2Os? I like sparkle as much as the next person, and perhaps more, but having invested in (mumble mumble mumble) in my Copics, which I truly love, is this something I would use and like? There's something about the whole last chance thing that calls my name, but I don't want to have more stuff to store that I will not use a lot. Save me! (or tell me that you love them for X,Y, and Z reasons...).

And of course, for coloring with copics, the new KETTOS at Stamping Bella! Those should be a lot of fun (when they get here, hehe)...
Welcome, Robin, I see they got you, too!
Demodebi, you read the whole thread, right? Or at least enough to realize what they've gotten you into, right? Hee! Enjoy, but watch out! You'll never know what hit you when the next shipment comes in for Randy!!!

I know a great source for the Neenah Classic Crest solar white paper in the cover weight of 80 lb. They have three *express stores* in MN. You can buy paper by the pound or by the ream 250 sheets of paper. I think its about $25 but that is just a guestimate based on my last purchase however I am all out again. You can go on their website and get their phone number and call the store for a quote. Of course you would have to pay shipping but that's a given.

www.anchorpaper.com
Its where we buy our paper.

Robin
Welcome Robin. I just placed my 3rd order yesterday before the price increase. I got a teeny tiny bonus at work so I decided I deserved a few more copics (and the opaque paint)!! They'll be here by the wkend and school is out for me for a week so this wkend, it's ON!! I got some new Unity stamps (my first orders), Changito (sp) was at Target tonight when I accidentally went down the scrapbook isle looking for something to put my markers in so I HAD to have it. I also ordered from ClearDollarStamps.com and have practiced on a few of those images so I gotta get to inking and putting them in a card, etc. You'll love them more once you start playing more! Oh, and I think we're all pretty "good" enablers!

Default Why Copics?

Hi everyone,
I've always used watercolour pencils and Whisper marker pens to colour in my stamps. Recently I have been getting involved with craft forums and blogs on the net and notice that almost everyone is using something called copics. I'd never heard of them before and I've never seen any in the UK craft stores I visit.
So I have two questions?
1) Why should I have these - what is so great about them? (that question is asked in a nice tone, I really do want to know).
2) Where can I get them in the UK.
They seem to be very expensive from what I can gather but as everyone raves about them I get the feeling they are worth it.
Thanks in anticipation of advice.
Kind regards.
Clare

I don't know how you will feel about the twinkling H2Os but I love mine. When I first got my copics I quit using my chalk pencils and watercolors and went through a "copic phase" but now I'm finding myself using the twinkling H2Os again. Sometimes I just want to watercolor because I enjoy it, but it is more time-consuming for me. I'm learning as I go and I'm SO SLOW! I'll try to add a card or two with the twinks.

Just realized those photos don't show the sparkle. Maybe this one will do better.

I know Crafts U Love stocks in the UK, go to their pens & pencils section or you can contact a US based company and ask about international shipping rates.

Why copics - because I like vibrant comic strip colour. And the markers so far have been relatively streak free for me unlike other markers I have used. The times when I get streaking is either when I am going for that effect or when I have been too impatient in my usage. Also you can use the one marker lightly and then keep going over certain bits with that marker to make the colour somewhat deeper.
