The Sketch are oval and don't roll off your desk. The Ciao are round and will roll.

The Sketch have the name and color number printed on both caps. The Ciao do not which make it harder to tell which marker you are grabbing, particularly if you store them on end.

The Sketch have more ink in them, so they won't need refills as soon or as often.

The Sketch come in substantially more colors than the Ciao. About 322 Sketch colors and only about 144 Ciao colors.

You can airbrush with the Sketch without having to rig something to make it work like you do with the Ciao.

The Sketch are more expensive than the Ciao, but worth it to me for the reasons listed above.

HTH!
Thanks that is precisely the info I was needing!

I'm thinking about getting this to hold my markers.

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...KU=117831&RN=0

Looks similar to the Amuse bucket. I'm going to see if they have them in the store. Otherwise I may ask my sister to pick up one of the Amuse ones in San Diego.

please forgive me if this has been answered, but I just cannot read through all of this thread right now, it is late and my eyes are watering
Question
Why would you choose the Sketch markers over the Ciao marker? If you had no intention of airbrushing?
Thanks, I have five markers on their way and chose the CIAO, now I am wondering if I started out with the right ones?

I did see on another board that the CIAO markers blend better or easier has anyone found that to be the case?

Ok..last night, while killing time at work (P/T conferences and had none) I ordered the sage colored enamel marker bucket and the Amuse black dye ink/refill. Then, this morning, I ordered 9 more Sketch Copics...gotta work on filling that pretty bucket...that I don't even have yet!

This will stop.....soon, right????

I got buckets like this at Target. They have them with the Summer items every year as picnic utensil holders.

I think that last two I picked up were on clearance for about $4 each.

So...it's REALLY ok to store my Copics vertically?(sure hope so, as I just bought that pretty bucket for storage) And yes, I did read about this on the Copic site(and they said either way was ok), BUT I'd really like to hear what long time users think about the best Copic storage....

Thanks!

Great idea!!! What size font did you use?
I tried writing on the ends but those are getting wiped off. Not working well.
I can't wait to try this

Good to know Jeanne. I have my markers in temporary storage right now so I'll check BBB and Target. Thanks!

This isn't my idea I found it on a post someone on this forum. Just don't want to upset the original poster.

I used 8 - the trick is to find a font you can read and that is Skinny. I'm not over the top thrilled with the font I chose and as I said I could have done them slightly larger - it took 17 labels for me because I did top and bottom of my "collection".

I didn't really play with hole punch sizes but I could have punched larger and they would have fit on the top and of course the darker the pen top colour the less you can read them but as I put them in order in my case I don't have to reference the numbers too often.

Yes, the good thing about he copic markers is that they are air tight, and the pigments do not move no mather what position you store them. They are fine as long as the caps are on.

Thank you everyone for your help. I think if you watch you can also get buckets like that at Joann's and Pat Catan craft stores.
Lesa that card is adorable, what kind of stamp is that?

During my ordering & wheeling & dealing, I have ended up with a few duplicate colors - posted on the Trade Forum - if anyone is interested in trading with me. I don't have a huge amount, so I have listed some color ranges I would like in exchange - not too picky!

THanks!

My solution to the ciao's not having a number on the end was to scribble each marker on a piece of cardstock, write the number in the scribble, punch it out with a 1/4" circle punch, and glue the punch out to the end of the barrel. This has the added benefit of showing you what the actual marker color is, so I went a head and did the same thing to my Sketch and Original markers too. Here's a photo:

You can still get them for $3.95. The price on the list shows $4.87, but if you actually put them in your cart, it will show up as $3.95. They also have their refills on sale for $2.95 each which regularly list at $7.49. Good deal!

Can someone please tell me, how much of a difference is there between the 00's and 000's? I need to squeeze in one more order and really need more light colors. TIA!

as you add more 0's it gets paler. So a color ending in 0000 will be two shades lighter than a color ending in 00. (00, 000, 0000)

Now that is genius!

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I just found a swap specifically for Copic lovers.

It holds about 175 Sketch markers. It can probably hold more Ciao ones, since they're smaller.

Thanks!
I've stored my copics vertically for over a year and my markers are still awesome!

Question: What color did you use to outline the snowman and what one did you use for the people figures?

Thanks!
I was going to go get the card to check, then I realized that I already sent it out, so I'd have to guess either B00, B000, or BG000 around the snowmen and I almost always use C1 or C3 around the people...
Sorry I couldn't be more help, thanks for your input!
