Hey, would anyone be interested in an image swap? Since we all need special ink and paper maybe it would be easier here? I know I would love to have some images so I can practice/use my copics. Anyone else?

Thumbs up

Count me in! I use Memento Tuxedo Black all the time now because I figure I just want to make sure that whoever gets my images can use copics. But not everyone else does that and sometimes I have had to just throw images away because of "bleeding"

BUT, what "special paper" do you mean? I have Neenah Avalanche white 80 lb., Domtar 110lb.bright white and Staples 110lb. white.

Are any of these acceptable to you?

Thank you Lesarappp, snazzy stamper, cjbapp & kitty14 for the recomendation of Memento Ink. I just used Copics the first time last week with SU BB and it smeared. I don't like StazOn so I'm glad so many like the Memento.

For paper, I just mean anything but the glossy types like SU whisper white.

I think it would be a great idea to do a swap with Copic friendly images.

I also think it would be fun to do a swap with a couple of the papers that are suggested...I only have PTI, but would like to try GinaK's and Neenah Classic Crest or whatever it is...before I go buy a whole pack and find out I don't like it better...LOL

Hey, when using the color wheel in terms of avoiding colors that turn out to be really similar to ones I already have.... do you avoid ones next to each other on the same band (like a ring of a tree), or is it ones next to each other going towards the center? (like a ray of the sun). Did that make sense?!

Any insight would be appreciated!

This is a question I would really like to see an answer for. I have picked some colors totally in different families, and when I use them they are so similar that I could do without one or the other ... and purchase another
Thanks for any/all help that can be provided.

If you look at the wheel...the ones that are touching side by side or diagonally are usually quite similar. However I do have a few colors that are right next to each other that look obviously different. The wheel is great when you have less markers (like 100 or so) but after that you kind of have to go by trial and error...or go IN TO A STORE and bring your sample chart with you, testing them all.

Hi Rusty!...sadly many of us know you better than each other...LOL

About the MAP pricing...Well I have to say...in a way it would be good for you, since *that other place* can't beat your price anymore!

And are you ever going to be able to get all the sketch in stock and keep them that way???? I ordered from you a few times, and love your fast service and all...but since I passed the half-way point in my color collection, I haven't found any of what I need in stock for a while.

Ok enough talking, I just realized that the markers are cheaper today...and MAYBE I need some of those colors you do have in stock!!

Hi Cher,

Yes, eventually we will be able to keep them in stock. The markers we got last week were ordered in the beginning of December if that explains anything. it alos takes LOTS of cash to keep markers in stock. As expensive as they are, they aren't a high profit item, but they sell (unlike a lot of other things lately). It's not just the importers fault. Japan has had a hard time keeping up with the demand all ove rht eworld. COPICs are really exploding in popularity right now.

I do want to thank everyone for their business.

Rusty @ Oozak

What color of hair? there are too many hair colors to give an easy answer. Hair has different tones as well, so you won't have one color, rather, layers of different colors.

For a natural blonde I do like Y11 streaked with E31

For a middle brown I like E35 streaked with E37 or E39

For black hair I usually go with E49

For deep Red hair, try something like YR18 streaked with YR09 or R08

these are not hte only colors, just some I can think of off the top of my head

Really, take any of your browns, yellows, reds or oranges and streak them into each other. Keep a swatch chart of what you try to see what works.

Okay you are all a BAD influence!
Just spent a lot on OOZAK. Too bad I didn't see yesterday because they didn't have all I wanted, but I'd say there are only a few more (for now) that I'm missing. I bought the wallets too just to make my 50 dollars.... it helped they had the mats for my carl cutter as well. I guess it was a success!

No more deals....... no more deals..... JUST don't tell me okay

Question

By "look alikes", do you mean 2 colors that are very similar?

How about G21 and G24? RV000 and RV00?

Maybe it's these "OLD" eyes, but they look almost the same to me! LOL!

Yes, colors that look identical. Or at least so similar that you don't need both. Just think of all the money it would save. I plan on saying "honey, these are the colors I need, but look, these colors I don't need because the ladies on SCS said they look similar to this one, so why buy both?"
They will be so proud that we are watching our $'s.

i have tried adrinonak (sp?) and memento for ink. both are bleeding. i do not want to have to heat set. and i really don't want to emboss either. any other ink suggestions?

if embossing with clear powder is best...what is the black pigment ink to use?

and while i'm asking, do you use black ink all the time? i really like brown sometimes but ....???

My favorite ink is Nick Bantock Lamp Black by Ranger. They also have a brown. LOVE THEM.

Click on this blog for more info on inks and papers. She did a WONDERFUL trial that is comprehensive and unbiased!!! (No, it is not my blog...)

oooo thanks! sheepishly admitting i've been directed to that site once before. it's late, i'm tired. so now i remember the paper makes difference too. ok, i have gina k thick stuff but haven't tried it. i should give it a whirl. i don't have papertrey cardstock as recommended there. i should try gina with my memento before i go buy yet another brand ink pad.

I use Gina K. pure luxury (LOVE IT) and Memento. I never have to heat set and it blends great.

Memento Tuxedo Black is bleeding for you? I use it all the time with no problem. And I do NOT heat set it.

Do you give it a few minutes ( like 1 or 2) before coloring?

What paper do you use? I wonder if the paper could be the problem. I use Neenah Avalanche White 80lb. with no problem.

I've never had a problem with the Memenot bleeding, that's my ink of choice. Thanks for the heads up with oozak off to see if there are any colors "I need".

I'ld love to do an image swap with copic ready images as I've noticed most of the swaps use stazon and that doesn't work with copics. If anyone is interested I have a bunch of Bellas and would be willing to trade for some Magnolias and/or Whiff of Joy. Just PM me.

What paper are you using????

SU will let anything smear because it can't soak in and dry fast.

On the opposite of that, even though SU ink is NOT suggested, it actually works ok on PTI paper.

And about colors, I have used just about any color...like those new lovebirds in the Love you Much set...I stamped in red (SU) and colored them pink (Copic)...they just looked retarded stamped in black. LOL

I just added this card to my blog. The lovebirds were stamped in Chocolate Chip (Classic SU) and colored with Copics, on both sides...outlines included. There was no smearing at all, though I did not try by rubbing the marker over the wings....LOL

I just love the card, Cher. Pink & Chocolate is my favorite combo. Great job with the layout and I just love the DP. So adorable!

The Memento shouldn't bleed on the GP cardstock! Some people actually prefer it...and I have used it when I get it on swaps.

WOW! Thanks so much for all of this wonderful information. I am brand new to the "Copic craze" and just purchased some "like new" ciao's from the buy/sell/trade forum here. I am super excited and cannot wait to receive them and start colouring.

I did have a couple of questions though...do you all just print out the colour wheel onto cardstock or regular computer paper?? Are the colours pretty accurate?

Also, for the Copic colour chart, do you print that up on cardstock as well vs computer paper??

Thanks in advance
Jen

I printed BOTH out on the white card stock that I use the most. I just figured it would give me a more accurate idea of the marker color.

The color wheel doesn't matter what paper, it's just to reference which colors are next to each other.

The colors are definitely NOT accurate. I wouldn't buy based on any online swatches, as they are so far off.

I began buying by refering back to the SU vs Copic color chart to get a baseline of what colors I wanted. For instance if I wanted a soft yellow and knew I liked So Saffron, I chose the matching Copic instead of guessing off the swatches.
