Default embellishing flower centers ?

I have a friend that would like me to come up with some wedding invite ideas for her daughter.
They like the Looks like Spring set and matching punch, but she was wondering if there was a way to attach a bead or pearl to the center of the punched out flowers on the invite to give them some dimension.

okay, I am pretty sure that you can wire them on, but I have never done anything like that.
Can anyone give me some pointers on this??
Any other ideas for embellishing flower centers??

I mentioned a button, but she said that they wanted something more elegant than that.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

What about using crystal effects in the centers and then placing microbeads within the crystal effects?

If you'd like to keep it simple, you can use Stickles (glitter glue) in the center. They come in tons of colors and you can make either glue "dots" for more dimension, or spread it thinner for less dimension.

I would recommend the cute pearl brads I've been seeing in the stores lately.

If you buy terrifically tacky sheet tape, you can use your 1/2 inch circle punch to punch out circles of it, then apply it to the center and "smoosh" it into micro beads. It's quick, easy and doesn't require drying time.

Thanks ladies for the ideas!!
I was wondering about crystal effects, I have never used it before, but I have heard that it will stick to anything.

pearl brads! what a great idea. I have not seen those yet. Where have you found them at ??? That would be a very simple, yet pretty way to go.

Thanks

I use Crystal Effects for Bead Centers - Pearls depending on size would be ok too. Or hot glue works good. Another thing you can buy is beads that are in liquid adhesive. They have real pretty whites and ivory's and pinks etc. I just bought some but haven't tried it yet. On their examples it looked like it held real good. another great center would be just a prima flower and brad? which of course is easy and its not going anywhere. Buttons. Etc.

Depending on the size of the bead(s) for the center you could just wire them on to the front of the flower through the center using fine gauge wire, couldn't you?

Default pearls...

Laurie,
I saw some pearl brads in the Oriental Trading Company scrapbook catalog that weren't too expensive. They aren't as nice as the ones that are at the scrapbook stores but not a bad alternative. I just used Crystal Effects to glue rhinestones into the middle of my prima flowers for a card the other night and they came out so cute! I guess it depends on the look you're going for! Check out this link for a project on papercrafts.com where they used the pearl brads for a wedding scrapbook page and card. Really pretty and you can see how they look combined with flowers.........
http://www.papercraftsmag.com/projec...144&cat_idx=26
Good luck, let us see them after you're done!

I didn’t know they made pearl brads!!! I say those would be PERFECT for a wedding flower, you can’t ask for more elegant than pearls – I make invitations so I had to find these, these are some links of places I found when I googled:

Scrapbookin – white, are beautiful pearl brads -
http://www.qbaroo.com/Scrapbookin/in...m?product=2799

Stampington – these are even nicer - have wedding pearl brad choices of silver or gold -
http://www.stampington.com/html/kco_...alphabets.html

Oriental trading, though they are all colors
http://www.orientaltrading.com/otcwe...e&sku=65/65492

Holy freakin cow, this place (Frantic Stamper) has every bazillion brad there ever was! I will be sorry I found this place – pearl brads here are colors too though:
http://www.franticstamper.com/brads.htm

SO by the way thanks for enabling us also, LOL -- another product that I have to have!!!

Edited to add: I think those ones used in the Paper Crafts mag are the ones shown in the link at Stampington (above) , the K&Co ones in choice of silver or gold rims. I LOOOVE that layout they showed in that mag, that issue is a definite MUSt if you don't already have it by the way, I think it is probably my favorite issue they have ever done!!

How about Liquid Pearls? It's a dimensional pearlescent glue that comes in the same type of applicator bottle as Stickles. There are many beautiful, soft colors to choose from. Would be very economical as well...a little bottle will do a LOT of flower centers.

How about heat embossing pearl embossing powder on plain silver or gold brads. Works great! and it probably costs less.

I have set glue dots in the center of Primas and then pressed the Primas into glass beads. They held just fine!

Pearl brads, pearl EP, all the cool suggestions. I made a card last night with layers of silk flowers, 2" punched daisies and finished the flower off with a brass flower brad I found at Stampfest last summer. A lot of the above suggestions would look really great on Primas, too.

I made a card using the LLS punch and put rhinestone brads (Making Memories) as the centres. I was very careful with the placement of the hole I made to put the brads through, and they still came out crooked. I used a push pin and not a 1/16" punch to make the holes, which may have had something to do with it. Here is the link to the card:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
(Note: the card looks a little garish in the pic, but that's because I had problems taking pix of the reflective perfect pearls powder -- it was all or nothing!)

I agree!!!!! I have used liquid pearls too and it's awesome! When you use just a dab it looks like a little pimple! LOL. It is very dimensional and comes in a silver color or gold, or some other ones and it's not transparent, so you could make it look like a pearl. Very cool product!!!

Primas are a hot new embellishment, silk flowers in all kinds of colors and sizes. They are all over the galleries lately.
I went looking for Liquid Pearls and found this great site: http://www.rubberdream.com/Catalog/L...s_products.htm
Lots of colors. Mmmmmm! Something else I gotta get.

What about a mini glue dot dipped in glitter, dazzling diamonds, or something like that? I've seen that on a swap card before, and it was beautiful. Just put the mini glue dot directly onto the flower, then roll it in the glitter or whatever, and it's instantly covered, and won't stick to anything else.

Thanks for the prima explanation. I think I have seen those in the gallery, I just didn't know what they were.
I am going to have to check into that Liquid Pearl stuff, that sure would be a quick way to go when making so many invites.

Thanks again

I hadn't thought of using those, but that's a great idea! I bought some pearl brad that look just like the ones in the stores from Oriental Trading Co. about a month or so ago. They were about $7 for roughly white, pale blue, and pale pink all in a pack together. I think there were two sheets of 24 brads in each color, but there may have only been one sheet of each. I'm trying to remember. Regardless, I was shocked at how many I got!

I've used that set a lot and love using the punch and embellishing the centers. I've used microbeads, brads, and also colored flat back rhinestones.
I know they come in clear also. I attached them with mini glue dots.
Check out my gallery and look at the flower filled basket card with the flowers in it.

Making Memories has gem stickers that are pearls and silver rhinestones. I have used these in centers of flowers and what a great addition and easy too! I found mine at Joann's.

Sorry, I didn't read through all of the posts so I don't know if anyone has suggested this.

I like to stamp the 3 flowers on whisper white then do the faux diamond dust over them and then punch them out. They are so sparkly and pretty! You could add small rinestones to the center also.

Good Luck!

I have used the flowers from that punch and layered the smaller size flower with 8 petals (from the same punch)on top of the largest flower then added "Liquid Pearls" It's like Stickles Glitter Glue without the glitter. It dries dimential, thus liquid pearls. I used a small amount of the same to adhere the flower to the paper and the two flowers together but made sure that I smoothed the glue so it wasn't too dimential. Even though the "center" space is about the same on the two sizes of flowers it looked better to me to have the smaller flower added because the center space doesn't look as defined.

Drying time depends on weather and temperature. I would say over an hour.

Good luck,

Pinky2

My friend owns a bead shop and she caries flatback Swarovski crystals. They come in different sizes and many different colors. I think they are about .08-.10 cents each. They are really pretty, and Crystal Effects should work just fine to adhere them. I have bought quite a variety, but have yet to use them!

Default Embellishing flower centers

My girlfriend and I just made shower invitations. We took added colored beads to match the flower. I use a little Eileen glue with a little water. Paint on the glue and add the beads with a small measuring spoon. You can go to any craft store, we went to Michaels, and pick up the beads in the embossing isle.

Hope this helps.

okay, I am pretty sure that you can wire them on, but I have never done anything like that.
Can anyone give me some pointers on this??
Any other ideas for embellishing flower centers??

I mentioned a button, but she said that they wanted something more elegant than that.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

rhinestone gems (from M's or somewhere, the costume kind), added to the center of the flower. Very pretty. I secure them with a little diamond glaze or what not.

Thanks again ladies,

I have ran a few of the ideas by the bride-to-be's mom, and she loves them, the pearl brads seem to be the favorite right now, but it depends upon if her dress has pearls or crystal accents on it, I guess. So, I am going to look over those links for the pearl brads and buy some to start trying out different designs. Wish me luck.

Also, StampinCarla, do you have an example of the flowers that you make with the faux diamond dust and the punch? I would love to see what you did with them!!
Such great ideas !!

I think doing that many Pearl brads(getting the hole just so thru both all the flowers and the invitation --AND disguising the brad prongs on the back) she is ultimately going to be happier with something glued on (As are your hardworking fingers.

brads also add to the weight and "dimension" as far as the poking thru the envelope factor, not to mention the cost...So when you price out the options add in extra for your sore fingers from prying the prongs apart and disguising the backside...
You might even go so far as to have them weighed at the post office...and to do a test mailing once you are down to a few designs..

I know for my dd invitations using a wired rather than wireless ribbon (I ran out of one type) was enough to cost an extra thirteen c per invitation..)

Good luck

I totally agree about the weight thing with using the pearl brads, I mentioned that to them and they did not even bat an eye. The father of the bride is a postal service employee and the last girl's invites had to all be hand stamped at the post office because of embellishments too. I guess it helps to know someone at the post office.
