Coloring mediums - how many
Hello everyone!
This weekend I worked on creating birthday cards for a Ronald McDonald house for a fellow SCSer. As I was creating and looking at my supplies I realized all the different coloring tools I own and then realized I do not use them all. I own Watercolor crayons 21 Copics- 24 Prisma markers MANY Prismas Pencils Bic Markers Sharpies almost all of the SU markers ALL of the CTMH markers (I won the entire set in a blog candy) H20s Stargazer shimmers (like H20s) Metallic colored pencils regular colored pencils chalk pencils SU chalks Pebbles Shimmer Chalk set SU watercolor pencils set So I think I am set for coloring. Now I really need to start using them ALL more! How about you? Do you have many coloring mediums also????? |
I have several, like most but not as many as you...
Prisma Pencils 24 watercolor pencils Pebbles chalk in Shimmer and metallic cream chalk Shimmer watercolor paints Normal watercolor paints Shimmerz Loads of Misc colored pencils Bics& sharpies about 36 Glaze pens Colored and clear crystal lacquer perfect pearls and pearl Ex Sheena |
I thought I had a lot, but not that many. Here's my list:
The full set of Prisma Pencils Full set of Sharpies.. both the medium and the fine tips Full set of Bics, medium point Chalks About 50 Copics so far The whole SU maker set A set of 12 Tombow markers Skin toned chalk pencils Glitter pens Glaze pens SU's Watercolor pencils Re-inkers that I use to color with blending pens or H2O pens (I think that's it). But yes, for coloring now, I mostly use Copics and plan to use my PrismaColor pencils more often. I do like watercoloring, I just don't do it much. I should unload my other markers, my kids would love them. |
I have a few different coloring mediums, just don't tell DH how much I really have lol. I have:
All the Copic's All of the Prisma pencils All of the SU markers SU Chalks All the SU water color crayons SU water color pencils Bic markers All the Faber-Castell watercolor pencils All the Derwent watercolor pencils All the shimmerz Koh-I-Noor pencils Lyra Skin Tone pencils All the Pearl Ex colors What can I say I love to color and I do us all of them, some of them I use several for one image. |
I have pretty much everything...though never got into any Prisma nor CTMH markers, and my daughters (12 & 8yrs) are the only ones who use the Bics and Chalks now...since I mainly use my Copics.
My other coloring medium of choice is watercolor pencils or the inside of ink pad lids with aqua brushes (BrusH20s). I can't tell you the last time I used anything besides watercoloring or copics....with the exception of an SU marker here and there. |

I have a few, but not an outrageous number.
SU markers SU watercolour crayons Bics/Sharpies (I use & store them together, so think of them as one medium.) SU chalks watercolour pencils Koh-I-Noor pencils Lyra Skin tone pencils |
I have
Copic over 200, I think? Prisma Pencils Water color crayons 2 packs from SU CTMH markers-though I don't color much with these I usually color the edge of my white core cardstock Sharpies-bought before copics rarely use Koh-I-Nor pencils-I really like these I mainly use Copic, Prisma and Koh-I-Nor. What a fun thread. |
Oh ya - I completely forgot about my Glaze and Souffle pens! Then add all the other Gelly Roll pens!!!
WOW we have lots to color with!!! |
Wow, I'm glad to know that others have lots too. Sometimes I think I have way too much, but here's my list:
SU watercolor crayons SU watercolor pencils Bic markers (the 36-set) 8 Gellyroll Stardust pens SU incolor markers from this year and my favorite of all: about 60 Prismacolor markers, with another 55 expected to arrive any day now. I really, really like the Prisma markers. |
I'm soooo glad I'm not the only one who has this problem. I use whatever I have that's closest. I use my chalks the least and probably my SU, Marvy and Tombow's the most. I've had them longer, so I'm a little bit better at blending them.
I currently have, or at least what I can remember at this hour: Copic Sketch Markers - All of them including all of the Atyou Spicas Marvy LePlumes - All of them w/ some duplicates Tombow - All of them w/ some duplicates Stampin Up - Complete set plus the neutrals and in colors available CTMH - 12 pastel colors Lyra Watercolor Crayons - Set of 48 Prism Colored Pencils - All of them plus my original set of 48 Derwent Water Color Pencils - Set of 36 Sargent Pastel Chalks - set of 48 SU Chalks - Set of 48 Chalk Pencils - set of 24 Sharpies - both the regular and ultra fine sets of 24 Several Water Color Paletes H20s - Set of 12 bright and pastel colors I think that's it, but there could be more. I'll have to check underneath all of my cardstock scraps when I clean up next :) |
I collect writing and art tools. I have a large bookshelf full of them. I honestly do collect them. I even found a book in the library today about collecting writing and art tools. Name it and I have it.
|

|
oh yeah, I have way too many probably...
watercolor is my favorite so I have wc crayons wc cakes and tubes water based markers shimmer wc cakes a gazillion Derwent wc crayons Plus a few bics, sharpies all the Memento markers Prisma and some no name color pencils oil pastels Tim Holtz, all the distress ink pads and selection of reinkers many other ink pads 3 sets of chalks (another preferred coloring medium) selection of stickles loose glitters clear glitter pens white Signos alcohol inks pearl ex glimmer mists |
I have a lot of those things posted, but I also have something called "water color STICKS." Can anyone explain to me what water color sticks are? Why would I need those in addition to wc pencils and wc crayons? Are they the same as either of those? They look like pencils w/o the wood. Yep, it was a silly purchase.

I am so out of it! Coloring has never been my thing so I stick to the basics -- ink with blender pens, watercolor pencils, some "real" watercolors, Pearl Ex, SU! markers, SU! pastels. Never tried watercolor crayons or Copics.

I have a number of different coloring mediums. Each is used depending on the situation. I just don't keep track of the exact number of each. How many of what ever is not important to me. I use what I have is what's important.

i'm hooked on the smooch accent inks and i don't see that anyone mentioned them...
if you want to fill in your design with something bright and shimmery they are FAB! and they have a great precision tip so you can get into the tiniest spaces! i like to emboss my design so first - no matter what i'm using to fill in - it helps me stay in the lines! i have several projects using the smooch inks on my clearsnap blog. |
I went through and cut and pasted from your lists - cut out what I didn't have - I can't believe I have as many mediums as I do - I need to get busy using some of this stuff -
