Post Labels for punches

Does anyone else wish the punch manufacters would have a label with the name of the punch somewhere visible. I am going to try and use my labelmaker to put the design name somewhere on the punch. I think, if the name is not too long, I will place it on the portion of the new style punches that will rest on a surface/shelf, etc. when storing. So many people have punches and are asking the 'name' of a specific one because the packaging is thrown out. Been meaning to do this. When crafters share their creations, the specific punch could included in the 'recipe'. Maybe I am too OCD - have kept the tagboard backing so will try and match them with a specific punch. JMHO

I cut the name off of the packaging the punch comes in & adhere that to my punch. I put itin the same spot you are talking about on the slim punches. On the MS one I put it on the small outer flat spot of the punch mechanism. That way I always know which one it is. I maybe OCD, too.. but I am ok with it! LOL!

Yes, I would love it if they would do that! I tend to not label mine, but have been considering using my label maker to do so.

I lable mine the same way. I could never keep track of what I have if I didn't label them. I also have a list of what I own in my purse in case I see any one that I like at Michael's. If I didn't have a list I would end up buying the same punches twice.

I have a very low-tech way of labeling my punches that has worked very effectively and takes no time to accomplish.

As soon as the punch comes out of the wrapping and I know it works, I use a super-fine point permanent marking pen and write the name of the punch, the date purchased, and the maker on the underside of the punch on the metal working part. I make sure to write on an area that paper won't brush against and wear off the ink. There is always an indented portion of the metal underside that is counter-sunk from the rest of the metal and the ink adheres well to it. It's not a glamorous way to mark the punch, by the same token it doesn't "ugly it up" either! It's quick and easy to do and if I make a mistake while writing, the ink can be removed with a bit of rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. I like simple solutions and this one did the trick for me.

I use my labeler also and label it as soon as it comes out of the package. It would be nice if they would come "pre-labeled."

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this would be a great idea. I think I will use my label maker today and label my punches. I have a Cricut but love punches when I only need a few shapes. I have a friend who loves punches also so we keep on the lookout for a punch the other mentioned she would like but can't find. WE ARE BAD!!!

Another thing I would like is a 'cap' for my ATG so if I took it to a class, the tape wouldn't get stuck to something in my workshop tote.

I use my label maker to label mine too. Although some have came off after awhile.

I also like to have the size on mine. So many times I'm reading about making something and no I have punches but don't know if I have the right sized one!!

I think it would be nice if they came labeled with the name and size.

Suni 29

Some of my EK Sucess Paper Shaper punches have the size on them. It's the old style circle/square - the size is included on the shape label. (i.e. the square image has 1 1/4" on it.) If you look on the underside within the metal cutting parts the size in engraved on them.

I just write on mine with a Sharpie marker--not pretty but it works. I put the size on too so if I find an example that I want to do I can grab the right circle or square. I have Nesties and the Cuttlebug folders too but love to be able to quickly grab a punch.
