Clothespins for Craft Fair - Pricing?
I'm preparing for a craft fair in the fall and am trying to figure out what to charge for the jumbo clothes pins? Any ideas? Has anyone sold them at fairs and how well did they sell? Thanks!

I haven't tried 'em but depending on your area they might sell anywhere from $5 to $10 (depending too on the amount of embellishment.)
I've heard that the general rule of thumb is to double or triple your expenses to determine pricing for handcrafts. Good luck!! I'd love to hear how they sell for you. |
I have been making the ones that are about 4 inches high (come in a pakage of two at Michaels and sells for $2.99). I think I am going to price those at $3.50 each. I usually double my materials and add extra since the paper costs are fairly cheap. I also do florals and have always did the same with pricing, maybe even triple some things. The set up fees are not cheap plus purchase of a tent, etc.

Have you bought them at Mike's recently? I'd like to make some for a craft boutique my neighbor and I are planning for November.

Hi Anne,
Not the Jumbo Paperclips, but I'm doing those as well. I got the jumbo clothespins (about 4" tall) from Oriental Traders (pkg of 3 for $5.99) I'm embellishing those and will be selling those at the craft fair. If you look for Altered Clothespins on SC, you'll see some GREAT STUFF!!!! Thanks! |
Didn't know Michael's carried them! I just got a bunch from OT, no shipping costs!!!!

$3.50 sounds like a fair price, but you are right, it all depends on how much embellishing you do. I'll have to do my calculations and see how that goes.
