Cleaning Just Rite tiny letters

Does anyone have any tips they would share regarding cleaning the little, tiny letters from the Just Rite sets? I am not only finding it tedious, but have difficulty getting them cleaned and have already lost one letter. Appreciate any advice!!

If I have used Versamark, I spray them with my dilute solution of simple green while they are still on the stamper and I very gently brush them with an old electric toothbrush. An ordinary toothbrush would work just as well. I keep my hand cupped under them while I do this over a sink with the stopper firmly down. They do fly about like fleas, if you're not careful! I find water based inks just wash off.

I came upon a tip the other day while using them. (This is not for cleaning) Sometimes the little spaces (say in the A, N, B, P etc) are so small they well up with ink and then when you stamp them the space is not visible. After I ink them, I get a piercing tool and just gently remove the welling ink. Don't know if this is clear or not, but I found it to be great.
