classic ink vs. craft ink?
 

Please help! I was wondering if someone could explain the difference between classic ink and craft ink? Also, which one do you prefer?:confused:

Classic ink is dye ink. It looks GREAT on SU whisper white, or very vanilla CS. Craft ink is a pigment ink. It is fairly thick and looks great stamped on colored CS or more "rough" surfaced CS. I love both. It depends on which technique I am using as to which pad I grab. I think the best type of ink to start with is classic since there is no drying time or heat setting necessary.

Classic ink is dye ink and craft ink is pigment ink. (I asked this question a few months ago!) You can use pigment ink to emboss plus it has a richer colour and "floats" on top of a card rather than sinking into it. (this is my take on the difference...) This means the pigment ink would show up better on darker cardstock.

It has been noted on SCS that the pigment ink also resists fading and that the classic ink will fade over time.

Pigment ink is thicker and takes a lot longer to dry than classic or dye ink. It is down to personal preference which you prefer. I use both but like the fast-drying properties of classic ink when creating a card.

Craft (pigment) ink is also used for scrapbooking - it's archival safe, meaning it will not fade over time. You can still scrapbook with classic (dye) ink, but eventually (should take years and years) it will fade. Craft ink can be used for heat embossing (like versamark).
