Cheery Lynn Dies
 

I absolutely LOVE the Cheery Lynn Designs dies, but absolutely HATE having to run the die and paper through my big shot soooo many times. I did figure out that paper works better than card stock in 1 way, because it perforates easier, but still needs to be run through a few times. Any suggestions other than the recommended shims??

I have a Big Kick (same machine, different name) and never have to run my Cheery Lynn dies through more than once. I use all tabs on the multi-platform, cutting pad, paper, die, cutting pad and it cuts fine. Of course I have tons of tiny pieces to pick out, but usually I just use a piece of masking tape on the back of the die-cut to remove all the scraps. Kind of like a lint roller.
Maybe your die is defective?

The metal shim helps a LOT. I use it all the time now so I don't have to run through more than one time.

According to Mike ( owner and Founder) you do not have to over shim your entire piece.I use a cuttlebug and he advises that you only shim the part that did not cut through, as its usually the outside that cuts very easily. Sometimes it helps to rotate your die ( thats why they recommend you tape your die down), as the rollers on all machines are tighter at the edges than the middle.I found that it was not necessary to use the metal shim that a friend had, and found paper works just fine as a shim and in this instance better than the cuttlehug metal shim.

Another thing that makes a difference is your clear cutting plates. If they are really beat up, the intricate low profile dies will not cut as well. A tip for the fancy dies is to dry emboss first with the rubber mats; it shoves the paper down into the die and makes cutting easier. Depending on how old your machine is, you may or may not need extra shims.

Bingo! The cutting plates are very beat up and warped, so off I go to buy new cutting plates. Dry emobssing sounds like it will work well because I am using the beautiful delicate doily die. Thanx to all for your suggestions! I knew if there were solutions that it would be in SCS!
