I also like Papertrey Ink's Stamper's Select White Cardstock - $6 for 40 sheets. It's great for bases but only okay for stamping. I just ordered some Neenah from Joann's and am eager to try it out.
Thanks. Do you think SU's cardstock is just as heavy and Neenah 110#?
Most Stampin'Up cardstock is not as heavy (thick) but their THICK Whisper White might be very close.
Another suggestion (in addition to the 3 companies I listed in a previous post) is Bazzill Card Shoppe which comes in 12x12 sheets. Frantic Stamper sells them individually and here's a link:
I use so much white and off white that I use 110lb cardstock from Staples. Works fine for a base since there is always a couple of layers on top. Not expensive either.
Recollections 110lb is nice - at least the stuff I just bought is still nice. There have been posts that the quality has gone downhill. I also like Hammermill Digital copy 100lb. Its nice and smooth (really nice for pencil crayons and oms), works great with copics, and really sturdy for card bases.
Just in case someone wants to try Neenah for the first time - most big box office supply stores don't sell Neenah Classic Crest, which is the higher quality that a lot of people use, the one Jennifer McGuire recommends. They sell Exact Index, not the same.
I love SU whisper white heavier cardstock for bases, I'm thrilled they make it. I recently purchased their Kraft colored heavy weight and like that too. Recently I discovered Elizabeth Craft Designs' Soft Finish Cardstock. I purchased both the lightweight and heavier weight, it's awesome. I've a large collection including watercolor paper. My favorite watercolor papers are Tim Holtz, Arches 300gsm, and Fabriano Bright White hot press. Thought I'd throw the watercolor papers in case someone is interested. I like Neenah Classic Crest for bases and Copics panels. I don't like Staples cardstock at all, others do like it and it's a cheap. I've found Staples cardstock yellows over time, unless it's a better quality now. I've not purchased it in years.
If I'm layering on the base, and inking on the layers then why use a relatively expensive cardstock for the base? As long as the weight is heavy, the whiteness is ok and the cardstock folds nicely why not use a cheaper one? Use the solar white ( Or similar) on the layers I'm stamping or coloring and I can use a bit lighter weight for that. I've been happy with the cheap Walmart / sams club / office max for the bases and the better cardstock for stamping the top layers.
