Scor - it
Ellen H - I was thinking of you last night when I was making a baby card, boy I need to find out where you can get that scor it tool. Where did you find it? I have looked on ebay under scor - it / scor - it tool and nothing came up. Could Ellen H or anyone tell me, thanks. I need a company that will sell into Canada not all of them will.
By Hand Products carries it -- http://www.quietfiredesign.com/byhandproductsocs.html
It's 59.95 US from them, and it will ship from Vancouver Island so shipping might be a bit higher than if it was shipped from the US, but the sucker's only two pounds, and they ar having a sale for Spring 2006 where they will include a free Stop Guide (est. value of $19.95 US) when you order a scor-it. They seem to actually care about their customers, which is nice, and have happy comments from other Canucks.
So glad you all could answer that question for me. I am Canadian, transplanted here in the U.S. and sometimes even I can't come up with the solutions needed. I will be looking into shipping to Canada but currently don't have a clue!
Diane how did you get yours for 40.00 they want 59.95
Thanks for all the info, girls.
I'm so sorry. It must have been a timed sale. I'm staring at the invoice dated 5/24/06. It says $39.59. It's backordered right now and I wonder if THAT'S why the sale price was dropped. I got the Xyron 510 for $32.88 and refills for $11.99 and they are still the same sale price. Hmmmm....
The cheapest I find it anywhere online is $58. Well, whenever I get it, if I don't like it - I'll know where to offer it!

So if i am seeing this right, what would be wrong with a bone folder and the groove on my cutter?? it looks like the same thing only for more money??

To me it is the same thing, and that is what I do to score my cards. I think the main differences are:
1) ease of use -- the Scor-It looks like it is much less awkward to align your paper on because you don't have to reach around the swing arm on your paper trimmer. Also, little extras like the paper aligning clamp make mass production much easier and less fussy.
2) consistent quality of the fold -- I'm sure the size of the groove on the Scor-It and the tip of the wooden scoring tool that comes with it are machined so they work together perfectly to make a great score line. Even with my bone folder and trimmer groove, I still go overboard sometimes and just yesterday almost ripped the score line through my project. I think the Scor-It tool would result in more consistent, good-quality score lines so you have less waste and if you compare any two from a hundred score lines from the Scor-it, the variance is much, much less than comparing any two of my score lines made using my bone folder.
As I make my cards pretty much one at a time, or maybe as many as six at a time, these things don't matter so much to me. If I was making batches of invitations or bulk amount of Xmas cards regularly, I think I would invest in the Scor-It to save on time and reduce waste.

I guess it would also depend on how picky you were about your cards too. It is just another tool that we will all end having to have because of SCS

LOL - you are so right - I do believe that we are a bunch of sheep This is definitely superior to a bonefolder. I am going to try and take a picture of the actual score so that you can see the shape it make - it is unbelievable the "professional" quality of the fold. For anyone who is selling cards or sending cards to publishers this will be a must-have tool. If you are just making cards for family and friends then buy stamps instead - LOL, otherwise it will be well worth your investment.
I've had to make batches of nugget boxes at once - let me tell you there is a lot of scoring with those. Without my scor-it, I'd be insane. It gives the perfect score every single time. I am scoring impaired and have saved myself untold amounts of aggravation with it. I consider it money well spent.
