I'm working on pocket style invitations for a customer. I needed 1/8" red liner tape to seal up the sides, so my insert card would fit properly, but I had a full roll of 1/4" tape, and a trip to the craft store was not on the agenda for today.
I pulled some tape from the roll, and stuck it to a piece of waxed paper. I was able to easily cut down the middle of the length of tape, without my scissors and fingers getting all sticky. Then I was able to easily remove the tape from the waxed paper, apply it to my pocket cards, and take off the red liner and stick. Worked great!
This might help if you occasionally need 1/8" tape, or if you want to stretch out your roll of tape to last twice as long!
That is FANTASTIC. You must have been in my head because I am making graduation announcements and I need that size red tape!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Well, I'm glad to maybe help someone ELSE for a change!!! I taped up a good bit of my 55 pockets with the one roll of tape this way, and then I found part of a Tacky Tape sheet that I had, and used my little CM cutter to slice THAT into 1/8" pieces too! I have five more pockets to do, oh, well, I'll just HAVE to go to AC Moore tomorrow!!
Yes, I did cut right down the middle, no stickiness! I had no problem with it on the waxed paper, in fact, it gave it extra stability and made it super easy to cut evenly. Before I discovered this trick, I was trying to cut it with the one sticky side exposed, and the scissors got VERY sticky.
How clever of you! I have always tried to cut it with my scissors, and it always sticks to them and gets cut crooked. Now I know how to prevent that! TFS!!

It was more like desperation than cleverness!! Necessity IS the mother of invention!!
great idea!! I buy the largest roll and use my xacto knife to cut it into 1/4" strips..you just need to be careful to keep your wrists and fingers out of the way when you are coming around, so then I have 4 to 5 strips of tape on 1 roll..but i like your idea if I just need a little.
Did you "cut" down the middle with your scissors?? And no stickiness??
There are also specially coated non-stick scissors, so that as you cut NOTHING sticks, Mmmm they're wonderful....maybe I should ration myself using them...;)

Wow, you cut it while it's still on the roll? I'm afraid "red" liner tape would take on a new meaning if I tried that, LOL!!!
I'm just finding out about all these great products. I've seen this red tape in Michaels, and heard it praised at SCS, but is the tape itself really red? Or os that the packaging? Does it show through light paper or CS?
