Blatant enabling here...

I just couldn't resist.

I ordered my Inktense pencils. I've been waiting for a good price and I got it. I paid only $75 for the full set of 72.

Even better? Right now they're down to $70...AND there's free shipping! :p
Amazon.com: Derwent Inktense Pencils, 4mm Core, Metal Tin, 72 Count (2301843): Office Products

Suggested retail is $205...and Dick Blick gets $117 plus shipping right now.

So. Consider yourself enabled! ;)

ceramicat1 12-19-2013 01:11 PM

Thats unbelivable, fantastic price. I have a 72 set my parents bought me in wooden art box. I L O VE them ( and my parents too :)). But in Australia they sell at $320 approx and I found them on special at $280.00 we dont get those big discounts here. Totally enjoy they are brilliant

sorcha2 12-19-2013 04:10 PM

I knew I should have skipped this post...the price is now $69 and free shipping on Amazon (I'm a Prime member) they'll be in my hands on Tuesday. I've been eyeing these for a while. Thanks much for that little push Fionna51.

And I told myself I wasn't going to buy any more craft supplies until next year...

Thank you SO much for posting this...I have wanted these for a very long time too and was almost ready to just settle for a 24 pack. This is an amazing deal!

Inkin One 12-19-2013 08:39 PM

I have a smaller set of these 12 I think..plus I added a couple of colors from open stock. BUT I would love to fill the rest out...Thanks so much for sharing!!

fionna51 12-20-2013 03:42 AM

Oops! I just saw the price went up again. They're $96 now, but that's how Amazon works, so it's to be expected.

Still a decent deal, though!

mobrien207 12-20-2013 06:10 PM

They're back down to $80 tonight. I just would like them, but I can't do it right now. I hope to catch this great price another time.

madameplushbottom 12-22-2013 07:56 AM

Doh!!!! That was a great price....must balance the budget/checkbook today and then I might check it out.

madameplushbottom 12-22-2013 08:01 AM

Well...screw the balancing....just bought them. :) thanks for the great gift Diane!

fionna51 12-22-2013 05:11 PM

So happy to enable!

dini 12-22-2013 10:53 PM

Diane!! What a great deal - and you will LOVE them!

fionna51 12-23-2013 02:32 AM

I'm sure I WILL love them...when I get a chance to use them!

Nope, change that...when I MAKE a chance to use them.

I had already cleared space in my pencil/marker rack to put them, so I unpacked them right away. I really have no excuses now... :)

fionna51 12-23-2013 02:38 AM

mobrien...just a hint...
Put the pencils in your Amazon shopping cart, and move to "save for later". Then just keep an eye on the prices by going to your cart every once in a while. They'll tell you when they go up and down in price. But Amazon seems to adjust prices regularly, and I think that it's affected by whether people are saving them in their cart, or buying, or whatever. I had them in my cart for 5 or 6 months. You just have to be patient.

ceramicat1 12-24-2013 04:41 PM

Mine arrived today! I'll have to try them out in the next couple of days!

JoBear2 12-26-2013 02:45 AM

You will love your Inktense pencils Diane! How fantastic to get them at such a great price! I love mine - the colours are so vibrant and alive!

sylviad 12-27-2013 06:11 AM

I have that set of pencils and just loooove them! One little hint, though: put a couple of rubber bands around the metal tin. I dropped mine and had to sort all 72 pencils back into numerical order! They HAVE to be in order, you know! I also made a grid for the inside of the lid with each pencil number, name and sample of the color. I guess I am a little CDO. That is like OCD, but the letters are alphabetical as they should be.

fionna51 12-27-2013 05:39 PM

I have mine arranged a bit different...
Prismacolors, watercolor crayons, watercolor pencils, inktense pencils, distress markers, SU markers. My bins are 5 high and 9 wide. Each media takes up vertical rows, and they are all in color order. Bottom row is all pinks, reds, purples, next up oranges and yellows, next is greens, next is turquoises and blues, then the neutrals on top. I have lovely rainbow bins!

Ohhh, I just LOVE colours in rainbow order - they make me so happy :D Glad there is someone like me!

dini 12-27-2013 10:05 PM

*sigh*

rainbows....

madameplushbottom 12-28-2013 10:49 AM

My set arrived today! It is glorious. I am in the mood to do a big funky textured painting today so I will have to ponder what to do with the pencils later this week.

madameplushbottom 12-28-2013 11:23 AM

Not sure if this will interest anyone, but this website Derwent Pencils | Hints & Tips - Drawing Projects - Watersoluble Media has pdfs with instructions on things to sketch and paint with the derwent inktense pencils.

grateful2bsaved 12-29-2013 10:44 AM

When oh when will I learn not to read threads very clearly labeled "enabler"?! I am such a sucker for a good deal! Saddest thing of all is I already have a new set of them. But I loved how they colored when I tested a few so I'm tempted to buy a backup set! Yep I definitely have a problem... Ugh!

Nice link Meg, thank you!

And, congrats to all of you who made your purchase! I'm sure you'll enjoy them, the color intensity is beautiful!

dini 12-29-2013 12:48 PM

Sitting on my hands over here... I just checked the price and they're $69.99.

fionna51 12-29-2013 12:54 PM

Great price! Just sayin'... ;)

dini 12-29-2013 01:14 PM

UGHHHHHH I'm getting them... I actually do have 44 of the colors, but they're not much worn and it's been my experience that pencils are pretty easy find new homes for. :)

See, Dina? I'm pretty good at enabling too, huh? ;) You're still the master, though!

Glad you're going to have a "complete" set now!

dini 12-29-2013 04:48 PM

LOL! NOT looking, NOT looking, NOT LOOKING.......oops...;)

madameplushbottom 12-29-2013 06:29 PM

So... to those of you who have the blocks, do a lil spotlight. What is the advantage to the blocks? How do you use them compared to the pencils or other mediums? I think Diane would be open to your ongoing enabling.

dini 12-29-2013 06:46 PM

I don't have them *yet*. I ordered the big set when Blick had a 30% coupon a few weeks ago, and they're sitting in CA waiting for me until DH goes there in March. ( March. I knooooow.)

This is my favorite video to show their versatility.

madameplushbottom 12-29-2013 07:16 PM

loved the video. now if I could just find someone who would pay my bills so I can stay home and play with all of these toys all day. Oh, I would be a happy girl.

Okay, I looked. I think I'm safe for now, since I have no idea how to paint or draw. Whew!
