Default blade for the tonic guillitone cutter

I have a 12x12 tonic guillotine paper trimmer and the blade is dull. Does any one know where I can buy a replacement blade?
Thanks

I always thought guillotine style trimmers were self sharpening and didn't need replacement. I would contact Tonic if yours is dull.

Do you ever, do the blade up and down like you are cutting paper ---without paper in it? I think that sharpens it. Would try that a few times and see if that helps!

There are new baldes available
450e Spare Blade for 30cm Guillotines
but you'd need to find a local supplier from their website..
Tonic Studios - Stockists
Hope this helps..

I would contact customer service. I called them because my blade 'arm' was not staying up. The fellow said that the spring must be broken. (the spring is not visible without unscrewing the portion under the measuring guide.) They sent me a new one.

yes I sharpened it up and down with no paper. Every one I know who owns one had problems with their blades within the first year

You are in luck- I still had this info from 2008! The number I called was 608-836-4478. I think I got it off the Tonic website. (an email address from 2008 was [email protected]) I talked to a Steve Ramsey. I received my replacement in 6 days. I saved the guarantee section off the packaging-5 year guarantee against defects faulty materials or workmanship.

I keep a paper with my notations: date, time, number called, who I talked to, what I was told. See, I still have it 3 1/2yrs later.

Good luck! I think you should get good service because Tonic knows the benefit of good customer satisfaction. I have several of their tools and really like them.

Spring issue. It's like a set of scissors and should be self-sharpening. Ever have a pair of scissors where the screw in the middle was loose? Won't cut a thing!

You can always try the same trick we use for punches. Try cutting thru emery paper (sand paper), aluminum foil... Should remove any "burrs" on the cutting edge that are causing the ragged cuts.

Glad I could help. Hope the blade comes as quickly as my cutter so you will be back in 'business' soon.

I am on my 2nd one. I used my first one to death. I used it for 3 years- very heavy personal use and very heavy class use as well. I was THRILLED with how long it lasted and how straight it cuts. I bought a 2nd one when it wore out.
I recently wore out my little 8" one too, and need to replace it.
