Question L letterpress - brayering advice needed

Hi, I have some L letterpress plates which I run through my BigShot and finally bought myself a good quality Soft brayer (my lino printing ones were not very flat). As I expected the Speedball brayer is lovely and flat but I was really disappointed to find the Lletterpress inks dry up on the brayer very quickly. I am talking within a two to three minutes, where as they seem to stay wet for over a half an hour with my old brayer.

Are soft brayers suitable for oil based inks like the L letterpress ones? Does anyone have any ideas about keeping the ink wet or alternatively, using inks more suitable for soft brayers?

There is an AWESOME website all about letterpress.

They recommend: "Purchase a printmaking brayer."

Here is a link to their website and to this particular article. Have fun!

Lifestyle Crafts makes a brayer specifically for their letterpress stuff. I never had a problem with the ink drying on it.
