I love Stampendous Detail Embossing Powder, but it doesn't come in colors. I wish it did. When I first saw Zing I got excited, because of the colors it comes in. But it is not a detail powder, as I found out after buying several to try. I love it for what it does do well, but I still wish I could find colored EP in a fine detail form. I know that the general work-around is to emboss in clear over colored ink, but I often want to emboss a color onto dark card stock.
Has anyone found a detail EP that comes in colors like pink and green and yellow? I have been looking online, but no luck.
Thought Zing was going to be my answer, the colors are great. But if the image is too detailed, it just looks grainy and the detail is lost. At least that has been my experience. Maybe it's operator error and I am doing something wrong.
Thanks!

The "Wow" powders come in a range of colours but their web site is rubbish at telling you whether they're detail or regular. I suspect the ones at the bottom of this page are detail as I have the Bright White and that one is but you might do well to ask before buying. There's a "where to buy" link at the top of that page that will point you at stockists. If there's one near you, you could go have a look but otherwise you could check by e-mail.
Stampin' Up! powders are all detail powder and there are about 10 colors available. You're right, though, most powders in the craft stores are lovely colors but not fine enough.

Hi all. I get embossing powder from Sparkle and Sprinkle. They are online and do conventions. Margaret (the owner) is absolutely wonderful. They carry detail and regular powders, glitter and lots of others great stuff. By the way, I have found that their regular opague powders work well for detail. I own a lot of their powders. I, too, bought the Zing brand, it is grainy, and I no longer have it. Don't want to keep stuff I'll never use. Have a great day...Bobbi.
I actually tried some colored Martha Stewart embossing powder on a thinly lined, detailed stamp and it came out quite well. Even a pencil thin word came out clear as if it has been stamped.
Thanks for all these. I checked out Sparkle and Sprinkle - might try some of those. I emailed Wow and asked them whether their powder was "detail" fine, so I'm sure I'll hear from them. I'll have to look at the Martha Stewart. And I didn't realize SU had added some colors in, the last time I bought EP from them all they had was black, white, silver, gold, etc.
Too bad the Zing turned out so grainy. I still use mine. The colors are just beautiful. But now I have some good leads for things to try ;-)!

Yes, I just reserve them for when I have solid images to fill. For that kind of thing, they work well. Betsy Veldman did a project for Papertrey using them and the Rosie Posie set and it was unbelievably beautiful:
So I'm not getting rid of mine! I just want something that will do things that the Zing can't.

I just brought home a 5-pack from Michaels (their brand) in gorgeous colors. All 5 did well on white cs, but only the purple and yellow came up on black cs. The other 3 look like clear EP, but did come up a little when I used CB Frost White instead of Versamark. Can't complain too much, 5 vials for $5 ($9.99 with 50% coupon) and I got to play!
Will try to post a picture in a few. I'm new to posting pics:/

Does Michaels have a brand, or do you mean Recollections Brand? I guess that is their brand. At least that is the only place I've seen that brand. I may go to Michaels tomorrow, but got to print me off some coupons first! I think I have 50% coupon for this week.
Kathy, you're right, it's Recollections. The only company I've ever seen on the back is Michaels out of Irving, TX, so I just assumed...yikes;)
Here they are on white and black. Forgive the sloppy stamping, I was just playing!
Thanks for the samples. I see what you mean about them on the black. But they are pretty on the white! I'm still trying to decide if I need to go to Michaels tomorrow or not. I have nothing planned...so....;)
