Default Scallop Punch

I have the new SU scallop punch. How do you make your corners look pretty? Everytime I punch a side then turn for the next side, my corner looks funny....is there a trick to making it look right?

Thanks

Sherry

Good question! I would also be very interested to hear what the experts out there say

Default scallop punch

If you are talking about the scallop border punch, that would be quite a trick to turn your corners and have the scallops all be the same size. I'm sure some crafty person has it figured out, but as for me, I'm too lazy! That's why the Nestabilities were invented!

I agree with Jutta - although I seem to remember somewhere around here that if you started with a 2 1/2 inch square you could make a nice square with even corners. I haven't tried it. Just use the punch for borders.

On www.chicnscratch.typepad.com, she has a Technique Tutorial section on the left hand side of her blog, scroll down, "How to Use the Scallop Edge Punch". She shows how to have the ends on both sides look the same, I don't know if that would work for a square or not, you would have to try it and see! HTH!!

For a wonderful square, check SCS Oct 8 Scallop Medallion tutorial. I have used two different Fiskars border punches with good results. I don't have the SU punch.

thanks for all of the replies! I'm off to check out the suggestions. If I find one that works for me I'll post!

The trick here is to cut the size of the square or rectangle to a certain dimension so that the scallops will come out even. Here is the best tutorial I have seen on this so far.

Also, I find it best even when cutting just one side, to make a mark on your cardstock at the halfway point on the side you want to cut, insert the paper and turn the punch upside down and line up the punch on that center mark, then punch. Now you can turn the punch over and contine down each side as you usually would. This way, you come out even on both ends.
