Default SU Scallop Square Punch

How do you make a border or larger shape with the scallop square? I'm debating about buying it and I have come across a few examples of it used other than as a square.

Not sure what you have seen but my guess is the person was using the scallop edge punch.

I think I saw this idea on someone's blog, but can't remember where. They punched several squares then layered them, matching the scallops, to create a larger square or rectangle. Then you place another panel over top so only the scallop edge shows. I think you do see the overlap, but in a pinch if you really wanted a larger mat, it would work.

***EDIT*** I just remembered which blog I saw this on. Beate's! Here is a card where she made a scalloped mat with the scallop square punch.

I made mine with the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge. I tried a scallop border punch but found it too hard to get the corners right and since I have the Cricut, I decided to use it. I think many people are using Nestabilities with the Cuttlebug?
