Default Epic Six and Bigz XL dies

Just wondering if someone can help me with this... I've just bought an Epic Six, and am wondering if you can use the Sizzix Bigz XL dies with it?
The opening is 6" and the cutting pad is 13".
I'm wondering if I would need the extended cutting pads, but from what I can tell, they are 6 1/4" wide, so not sure if they would fit in.
This is my first die cutting machine, and I really have no idea what I'm doing!
Thanks

Yes you can. You will need two cutting mats. If your Sizzix BigzXL recommends a crease pad, I would recommend you use it, too. I have found that the crease folds will actually be cut without the crease pad.

If it's 6" wide opening and the cutting length is 13" you should be able to use the Bigz dies and even the Bigz XL dies. You won't be able to use the Big Shot Pro dies, which need the 12" wide machine.

As long as the pads you have now are 13" long, you won't need the extended cutting plates. Good luck and have fun!!

Thanks for your advice...
Novell, my Epic Six has come with a cutting platform, a cutting/embossing platform and a cutting mat. (there's also a clear piece of perspex the same size as the cutting mat, but it's not pictured in the manual so I'm not sure what that is?!?!?- any ideas?) So when you say i will need two cutting mats, you're saying I will need to buy an extra one?
Also, I've read other posts you've commented in, and said you have an epic six rather than a big shot because it's smaller. In what way is it smaller? ie just overall dimensions? Is the opening of the big shot still 6"?
