Best WHITE ink pad?!? Need your help!
 

Hi all,

I'm trying to find a good white ink pad, does anyone have any suggestions? I use a lot of rubber and clear stamps. I buy a lot of stuff from SU, but I'm not really satisfied with the craft white pad. The images seem to show up faintly, even moreso on the clear stamps.

Is this just a common problem with white ink pads in general, or is there another brand of white ink thats superior?

Has anyone tried Papertrey's white inks?

Well, that depends on what you're going to do- stamp solid images? Color with markers? Pencils?

I have PTI's Fresh Snow pad and just used it this morning for the first time. It's a lot glopier than the Palette. It's pigment ink, NOT hybrid like Palettes.

I used to have Colorbox Frost and it was too goopy for me. Hard to stamp a clean image.

to be honest, I've never found "the perfect one." I tend to use SU's craft -- if it seems too wet, I blot it a bit. Palette Canvas is too pale. If I really want a perfect bold white, I stamp in versamark and emboss with Ranger Seafoam white embossing powder.

i have both of the Papertrey ink whites (palette new canvas and fresh snow) and love them both for different reasons.. I think you will LOVE fresh snow because it stamps a BRIGHT WHITE image and the pad is awesome too.. not too mushy like some pigment inks.. try it out!

Joan - thanks for your suggestion on embossing :) I've been doing that in the past months, but I'm trying to see if I can still get a clean white image with just stamping.

Jazzytobi & whoistracy: I'll be stamping solid images, 99% of the time on cardstock, and possibly 1% on other materials, like the clear overhead projector sheets. If its an ink pad that can't stamp on the clear sheets, its fine..

I'm tempted to try out Papertrey's inks. Does PTI Fresh Snow show up as a crisp solid image, whether it be used on rubber stamps or clear stamps? Would it be too much trouble to request for a picture of the final image? If its too much trouble, its no biggie :)

I have the JoAnn's brand (CraftEssentials), and it's the best white inkpad I've ever used. It dries on matte finish cardstock, too.

hope that helps!! i mostly use my white inks to stamp backgrounds (as you can see) but i think both of the inks i use do a pretty good job..

Tobi I love all your cards but on your last card.... which stamp did you use to make that background.. LOVE IT!

jazzytobi - in the last card you made, how did you get the background image lined up so perfectly? I thought it was full size background stamp!

Did you just use a stamp a ma jig and a few lines drawn on the cardstock?

Oh wow, you're from BC! As am I :) I go to precious memories sometimes (Langley is a bit of a drive from Bby) but I love the stuff you have in store there!

LOL, maybe you can tell me, does Precious Memories carry any PTI products (I really want to try their 110lb cardstock), mainly the Palette inks that we were discussing?

Hmmm did you end up using the PTI Palette ink on this card, or is that the Staz On Opaque Cotton White ink? If you've used that one, how do you like that ink pad?

2 answers:

1) PTI does not sell wholesale. They only sell from their online store... But they do carry the "exact" paper that PTI sells (as best as they can tell). You ask the ladies at the front counter for "Copic paper" and they carry it in white, cream, and kraft. (It's identical). It's $.50/sheet.

2) I used Versamagic in "Cloud White" to stamp on that card.


You should take one of my classes sometime and introduce yourself!!

Thanks for the info about the copic paper! Is it also 110lb, or close to it?

And yes, I was blind, totally missed your line about using the Versamagic Cloud White. I love using Versamagic inks on my stamps, it holds so well... I had no idea they had a white color! Maybe I will come out soon & pick up that ink pad (I assume your store carries it?).

Langley is a bit of a drive, and have been so busy lately, I have trouble even keeping up with my card making sometimes ... but me & my gf's have been itching to take a class. Its just hard to find time sometimes. What classes do you teach?
