Is there a reason why Stampin Up sells the individual markers only in certain colors? I can't afford buying the whole box of them right now but there are a few that I definately want/need right now and of course they don't sell them individually.
ARRGHHH!!! So frustrating.

I know they do sell some of them individually but of course not the few colors that I need right now. Oh well....looks like I'll have to start saving my change.

I don't know, but I do like them. I got my set back in 2004 and they are still working great. I am sorry that they aren't doing it currently for people to buy them as they are able. Keep saving you will enjoy them..
I'm not happy about this change either. For those of us who have had their markers for a while, it's inevitable that you will eventually need to replace those that you use the most.
I registered my complaint with SU, and I would encourage you all to do the same. I suggested that they sell an "empty" marker that can be filled with reinker as an alternative if it just isn't feasible to keep all the marker colors "on the shelf." The more complaints they get, the more they are likely to reconsider.

In order to have new and exciting product, Stampin up has to look at these things from a financial standpoint so they have enough room in the warehouse (too bad they can't just make their decisions based on what I like the most ;) ) They kept the individual markers that were selling well on their own, and stop selling the ones that were not. I believe you can still buy color families though. So you could see if one of your friends that is looking to get into the markers would like to split families with you so you can get the ones you need? Sorry, I know it stinks when you need a product and can't get it.
Perhaps your demo might offer a marker club if you ask. You'll have a chance to be hostess and earn some benefits, too, but there will be a monthly commitment for 4 months.
I bought a full set several years ago and gen stopped making cards. Now I am making cards again and I don't need every color, just the ones that have come out in the meantime. I agree it is a bummer! Luckily a few I have wanted are available individually.
I thought that was one of the craziest decisions they made this year! What the heck? Hopefully they've gotten a ton of flack about it and go back to offering them all individually again. We're not all new stampers and demos needing full sets of everything. I just hope they don't do the same thing with the ink pads! Those have to be warehouse hogs.

I agree and hope we can get them to go back to selling the markers individually. I have all the markers that I need right now, but I won't be buying whole sets to replace one marker.
The reason SU! drops any of their products is sales, so you can't really blame them if they weren't selling. Keeping 40 individual markers was taking up spots where other new things could go. I understand what you're saying because now I'm very careful, to not take markers to a workshop that I cannot get individually (some people just mash the brush end down on things and completely destroy it - I'm sure it isn't SCSers though ). It's one of the first things I recommend to people when their party hits $400 and they get a half price item! I got mine with my first demo order 4 years ago (30% off!) and then just added to it as new colors came out.

I understand what you are saying, but if they don't sell full sets and people start buying other brand markers, maybe they will go back to selling singles. I can dream, can't I! LOL

Dreams are always allowed!
It would be lovely to have all the singles ... I don't think any of us would want to stop SU!
You can buy Tombow markers individually and maybe some would be a close enough match.
Will they work the same though? I bought some Le Plume's years ago before I became an SU! demo and tried to color on my stamps, then breathe and stamp and all the ink stayed on the stamp instead of transferring to the paper. I was so so disappointed!
They're cheap enough that we could try one and see how it works out. I prefer my SU, but if they don't offer the singles and I need one, that may be the route I go. So far, I have almost every color SU has and I bought reinkers, but if the tips go bad, I would have to look for a new marker.
Hey Muscat, This site doesn't solve your individual marker problem but it might solve a marker tip problem. You can buy SU marker tips here & it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying new markers all the time. Plus, you can just buy a refill & fill the old marker as well; Tips 4 Markers

I've been buying new tips for quite a while and they work great. It doesn't solve the problems for markers you don't have, but refill and new tips keep me going.
I'm not fond of the change and have let SU know but I do understand why they made the change.
I would never, ever ( I know, never say never) buy a whole set to replace a marker or two. I hate that SU did this!
I stocked up before this option went the by-way....hope they bring them back.
Has anyone tried re-filling them? I might go goggle that.
If you already have all of them, it's a moot point since you can refill them with your reinkers and since someone posted the link above for the tips if that's your issue. I've had mine over 5 years now and have NEVER had to reink them but I know you can. That's the beauty of SU! color coordination!
The colors remaining in the single colors are the ones that sold well. It doesn't surprise me that the singles didn't sell great in all of the colors. I know I have always personally sold more sets than individuals.
