Basic Question

Hi Everybody,

I'm totally new to the world of die-cut machines. I do a lot of felt applique and hand embroidery. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on which die-cut machines work best on felt. I use a variety of felt materials, some of it is acrylic, some of it wool, and some of it is a blend of wool and rayon. Anybody have any suggestions as to which machines I might invest in? Thanks in advance for your good help.

I don't know if it's the best, but I've had success cutting craft felt and/fabrics using my Sizzix Big Kick, which is the same as the Big Shot.

Kathy is right, something like the Big Shot/Big Kick is the best. Any of the steel-ruled, thick metal dies can cut through felt easily. This would include the Accucut and Ellison lines as well, which are much more expensive and usually in schools, libraries and scrapbook shops.

You might also be interested in the Accucut Go! Fabric die cutting. It's just like a regular die cutting machine, but they are targeting quilters - and you might find their range of dies appealing. http://www.accuquilt.com/

Big Kick, I used mine last year to cut the stiffer felt (with silver flecks in it) with a Sizzix die that I got at Jo-Ann's. If you go to the Sizzix website, I think they list the materials/items that you can cut with their dies.
