Stitching with a Machine

Can you use your regular sewing machine or will stitching paper damage the machine....I see lots of people here buying smaller craft machines, is this due to cost, ease of use, fear of damaging regular machine, etc? Please enlighten me as I am seeing lots of great samples and only own a large machine....thanks.

I use my regular machine. It will wear out the needle faster but does not hurt the machine. Be sure if you place adhesive down first that it's not where the stitching will go. It will gum up your needle. Other than that, it's easy! I usually practice on a scrap first.

I use my regular machine too. Paper will blunt your needle faster than fabric so you might want to keep a needle specifically for your paper projects. Other than that, sewing paper is no different than sewing fabric.

I agree with Debbie - do a try out on some scraps of stuff first as you'll probably need to play around a bit to get the tension right.
