ATG Questions/HELP?
 

Can anyone please tell me the pros and cons to working with an ATG? Which ATG is the best? What options should I look for? Is there a company out there who has the best deal as far as purchasing price and shipping? Thank you for all helps with these questions, I do appreciate your time!! ~Amy~

Well, I bought mine from framingsupplies.com for $39.95. It's the ATG 714 and uses 1/4" tape. I love it! There is a learning curve, but it's great adhesive and much cheaper "by-the-yard" than my previous favorite (Dot Roller). I've been using the same roll for about a month... There have been posts here about a less expensive refill from Tape Depot; I'll probably try it when I'm into the 2nd roll of Scotch adhesive I bought with the ATG Gun. That being said, it is a bit bulky, but it's very easy to handle.

I have the ATG 714 made by Scotch. I bought it from Crop and Stick. I paid 39.99 and it came with a free 60 foot roll of tape. I was really happy with their service. I bought the tape refills from Armel for 1.25 a roll.
I am thrilled with my ATG. I thought that it would be big and bulky to us, but thats not the case. I got used to it right away and LOVE it!!!

I've been using my Scotch 714 for two years now and I have a hard time putting it away when I do my Stampin' Up demos : )

It looks bulky, but actually is light and just fits your hand perfectly, and the tape is so economical compared to anything else I've used, with the exception of Mono Multi (which is a strong-holding liquid glue, so really isn't a good comparison for a tape-runner type fixative). I bet you'll love your ATG if you decide to get one.

I have had carpal tunnel surgery on both of my wrists and was apprehensive about being able to use it because of the bulky look, but I have absolutely no problems. It's one of the best craft purchases I have ever made (and believe me, I've made a LOT of craft purchases!!).

I bought the 714 and got it a couple of weeks ago. Life hasn't given me enough time to really test it out (I've made all of one card! Lol!), but it's not really love at first use. It's easy enough to thread the adhesive - there's lots of videos out there if you run into problems with that part. There's certainly a lot of stick power to the adhesive too. I don't find it heavy, but my coordination with it certainly leaves something to be desired. Lol!!! A slightly off-topic question... Is there a trick to getting a clean break with the adhesive when you come to the end of the paper you're applying it to? I kept finding it pulls away from the backing and I get a bit of an over-hang... Just not a clean break at the point I want to stop, if that makes any sense. Any suggestions?

Oh, and I got it and 12 rolls of adhesive in Canada at nhsmedia.com for $100 including shipping. I had it within a week. :)

I bought the 714 and LOVE IT! I was afraid it would be heavy and cumbersome but not the case for me. It's easy to thread, easy to use and doesn't get lost in all the clutter while I'm creating! ;) I did a 40 pg scrapbook for my son's preschool with less than 3 rolls of tape. I can't even begin to imagine how many roles of SNAIL it would have cost me! Worth every penny in my book.

I have both the 3M 714 and The Tape Depot ATG 50. I prefer the 714 but that being said, I have used both and find them worth the time spent on the learning curve. I know others have complained that an ATG is bulky but the way it is designed makes you forget about the size.

I bought the 3M ATG from Armel because it was the lowest price at the time. I think they now carry an ATG similar to the one sold by The Tape Depot' (Just a different color) Right now, Armel is having their 1/4" tape for $1.25 if you order 12 or more. I think this is the lowest price out there at this time.

I have had good customer service from Armel and The Tape Depot.

IMO owning and using an ATG is a 'no brainer' because in the first few months I started papercrafting I spent about $60-$70 using the SNAIL type adhesives.

This is the best craft investment you can make. I have 2 of the 714's. I bought one from Armel and picked up a 2nd at a LSS yard sale. I love armel. I just ordered 36 rolls of their $1.25 tape. I ordered it late Weds and had the fed-ex package on Thursday.

I love the 714. It is awesome and easy to use. I was worried that it would be too heavy and cumbersome, but it isn't at all. I got mine at framingsupplies.com and buy the refill tape there as well. I get the acid free tape so that I can use it in my scrapbooks.

Puppydoggrins - I stop pulling the trigger a smidgen before I get to where I want the adhesive to stop. Then I get a clean break with the adhesive.
