Default Talk to me about Craft Mates storage!

I've been considering a new storage method for all my small embellishments for some time, and it looks to me that the Craft Mates system might just be what I need- it will allow me to condense most things, will be easy to take to crops, I can easily scan what I have to find what I want, and possibly the *most important* thing, each compartment opens individually! Hooray!

I of course, still have a few questions that their website/brochure doesn't seem to be able to answer, so I was hoping some of you can! I'm interested in the regular ones- not the stackable jars or 7-sided caddy.

How big are the different sizes? They range from med to 3XL. I can do the math to get width, but what about depth/height? I want to know because I want to know how many of each size I might need. I'd like to store all my brads, eyelets, buttons, ribbon slides, and metal hardware (think tiny frames) etc in these if possible.

Do the individual rows attach to one another in any way? They show them as single rows, but sometimes there are double row boxes. Can any two of the same size be hooked together?

Any comments from anyone who has tried these would be much appreciated!

I have used craft mates for small stuff for years. I have two cases which have four long tubes of tiny compartments, one case for brads, one for eyelets. When I got mine, they were in the beading aisle at Michaels so check there first. I don't know if the compartments come in different sizes but I will look next time I go to M's.

I got the Ezy Lockin' Caddy Craft Organizer at AC Moore with a 50% off coupon for $18.00. The caddy comes with 6 14-compartment caddies (plus there is actually room for one more which you can purchase separately.) I have ALL my small embellishments stored in this - eyelets, brads, buttons, beads, you name it - it's in there. Plus I love the extra storage room for tools - these pockets are a good size. The back pouch referred to on the CraftMates website is where I store all my rubons. (It's not really big enough for regular-sized magazines like the website mentions.) I love this organizer - to have everything in one place, plus the added portability - it can't be beat!

Edited to add: The individual caddies don't lock into one another, and since I only have the 14-compartment caddies, I don't know about the sizes of the others. I do know the ones I have would work great for the types of embellishments you want to store.

Thumbs up

Hi. I use the large and 2xl locking caddies with the snappin' organizer and LOVE them.

In the large size locking caddies, the compartments measure 3/4"h x 1"d x 1/2" w.

In the 2xl size locking caddies, the compartments measure 3/4"h x 1-1/2"d x 1" w.

HTH..........
