Smile Punches & Storage

Hi, I just recently cleaned out my scrap room, but I Have alot of punches. I am having trouble organizing and storing my punches, they are stored in a drawer right now. I need help with organizing them and ideas as to how to store them. When I cleaned out, I found I had two of some of them because I didn't realize that I had them. Any ideas please. I have about 30 punches mostly stampin up. Open for any ideas but I don't want to spend an arm & leg. Thanks any help is greatly appreciated.

If you go to the Mission Organization forum, they have a few threads on storing punches.

I have too many punches and went vertical with the help of Ikea's Bygel rails. You can see them here: IKEA | Wall storage | Wall organizers | BYGEL | Rail
I need to see them in plain sight to encourage me to use them.

I purchased an old video/dvd rack at a yard sale for $2. It doesn't work for small punches but is great for my medium and larger punches.

Thank you for the ideas. I am going to have to look into something. They are way to heavy for the draws I have them in.

Default My punch storing method

First, I punch each one on black paper. I keep that punch in a notebook. I have pages for Martha Stewart border punches, for Fiskars border punches, for Stampin' Up, etc. My miscl. punches (not border ones), I don't break down by brand. I then store the actual punches in numbered IRIS 12x12 plastic boxes. Next to the sample punch in the notebook, I jot down the number of the box the punch is stored in. Want to make a border? just pull out the book and pick out which punch you want, check what numbered box it's in, and go straight to it.

I use my punches way too often to keep them in a drawer (and I have so many) I guess I'm visual, out of sight out of mind, which is how I ended up with double on the circle scallop punch
I, like Stacey mentioned also have the Ikea rails, 4 of them. I love to be able to look at my wall and be able to reach for them.

Default Punch storage

I also use the "Bygel rails" by Ikea. You can also you a towel bar which is also an inexpensive way to store your punches. I would also suggest that you bring a couple different size punches with you to make sure they fit properly!

I went out and bought those cheap gold cafe rods (curtain rods) at walmart. I got the longer ones so I had the extra support bracket for the middle and they work GREAT!!

Here is an old pic but you will see that all sizes of punches fit very nicely in these.
