Just bought several Glimmer Mist colors from "My Tattered Angel" after trying to make my own with Pearl Pigments, water and gum arabic in a little misting bottle. The results were very good but not real convenient when you want to use several colors at one time. The Glimmer Mists are awesome metallic sprays with gorgeous colors. I picked an assortment of leaves from outside, sprayed with lots of variations and every time I came up with terrific results. These are awesome; has anyone else ever tried them and how?
Dottie, I bought some in March and tried them on a few cards, but I was so unhappy with the results! I would love to see a tutorial on this or some tips.
I used SU cardstock, sprayed it as lightly as I possibly could. The cardstock warped as it dried, and the spray was pretty blotchy ... just not the fine mist spray that I was hoping for (and as was displayed in the store).
Any tips?

CMCAnne, the cardstock I used was SU and it did warp a little when sprayed so I placed the paper under a telephone book and it flattened right out. When Iwas spraying on the leaves with two colors I then sprayed over them with the gold. Then I put a piece of plastic wrap on it while still wet and kinda scrunched it and let it dry. The gold gravitated toward the scrunch lines and turned out like I had hoped. I do like the unusual backgrounds so maybe that is part of the whole thing; not orderly, etc. What did you do exactly?
Sorry, I wasn't clear at all in the above directions. I sprayed over the leaves I placed on the paper, removed the leaves to leave a white image for one example. Then the next try I just sprayed two colors on plain cardstock then sprayed the gold over the two colors very lightly, then put the plastic wrap over it. I waited about an hour to for it to dry then took the plastic off. DH said it was stunning. The spray does wet the paper a lot I noticed, too. But, what about the color washes, etc. they would do the same, wouldn't they?
It's fun to play. Oh, I used a green and a blue w/gold (& plastic wrap)to get an underwater effect for my fish stamps.

It will curl a bit but like another poster said, you can put it under a large book and it will straighten out. How close are you holding it to the paper?

I held it about 6 inches ... too close? Too far away?

I think you may get a finer mist if you hold it a little further away. I lay mine inside the lid of a shoebox and spray, kind of moving it as I spritz...almost like hair spray.
Glimmer Mists have a CD for $5 when you put in an order that will show you the different techniques. One of the things they point out is to spray a tad off on scratch paper to get the line of spray going so it doesn't come out in big drops. The closer you spray the more of a round spot you will get, but as you move back moving your hand up and down, the spray is finer. Hope these help. I would up load a card or paper I've doen but I don't know how to do it as the camera we have just doesn't do justice to the pics. (excuse!lol) Someday I will get to it and load my cards.
