Default Another Prismacolor pencils question.......

how do you sharpen yours? I have a sharpener that I used to use to sharpen charcoal pencils but it really hacked up my "True Blue" pencil, so I tried my little battery operated sharpener that I bought at Walmart and it seems to do a great job, but I still want to know what everybody here uses.

TIA, Pam

I just bought my tin of 36 from Michaels today and there was not one in my tin....just a "Bonus Art Stix".

Hi! I like my Staedtler sharpener from our local art store. It's just a little silver sharpener (about $2 Cdn.) HTH

I took a Prismacolor class and this is what we were told to use. It's about $1.50 or so. I think I may have picked it up at M's or J's.

I took a Prismacolor class from Michael Strong, he prefers the hand sharpener for the pencils, or if that is not available, the electric sharpener. He did say not to use a wall mounted sharpener as they will eat up the pencils too radically. The most crucial thing is to make sure you don't break the lead inside the pencil. Also, if you don't have a blending pencil or Gamsol/Turpenoid, you can use the white pencil to blend. It has very little affect on the color, but does the job very well.

I use the little silver one that came with my set. I tried using an electric sharpener but it ate up too much of the pencil.

Good question! I got some for Christmas and chewed them up terribly when I sharpened them!
Seems like an inexpensive hand sharpener will do - mine were probably just dull. So frustrating when the lead kept breaking and I had to sharpen it down even more

I've had the best results with a $.50 little sharpener from Wal-Mart. The Prismacolor sharpener was a disaster.
